Has anyone ever seen any sauna tents or mud tents at Gatherings? I know that at the 1970 Vortex Festival which was a precursor to Gatherings in a way, people set up plastic tents where people could experience a revitalizing sauna environment or have a mud bath and then bake out in the sun, followed by a dip into a nearby stream or river and feel absolutely incredible afterward.

I'd love to see something like that at a Gathering and help make it a reality. :sunny:

Don't take this as, they are dangerous and shouldn't be done... Just that you should make sure you know what you are doing.

Ahh yes I remember that incident. I haven't heard of many others besides this one and yes, knowing what you're doing definitely is key (we don't want unnecessary 6up attention brought to the Gathering, after all). I think as long as the temperature relative to the humidity level is at a safe level there should be no problems. From the experience I've had in saunas in Europe and there are three different sauna temperature/humidity calibrations (ranging from 140-200 F/20-40% H) so as long as the safezone is kept, the problems should be nonexistant. A misting tent could be a safer alternative too, and combined with mud, could provide for a really fun and muddy experience :)
