I've successfully done 3 extractions before the one this past weekend, which turned out really shitty. I now have a few grams of a brown and gooey hash looking substance. The entire procedure was done on a friend's back porch, and it was really cold out. I'm thinking the temperature affected the alkaloid extraction but I can't find any facts to support that. Another variable was that this was my first run with a new batch of MHRB. It looks the same as the other stuff but is there such a thing as shitty MHRB that could account for the crap looking stuff I extracted from it?
if the dmt was left outside in freezin temps for multiple hours the solven'ts solubility would drop and dmt would start precipitating out of it. it could also be the new bark - I've hard brazilian is better than mexican. sometimes the first pull just isn't that great but it picks up on the second.
strange, because at first I used mexican which worked fine and this run was with brazilian. And I don't think it was freezing out, just in the high 30s. But it makes sense that low temperatures could affect the extraction of particular alkaloids I guess. I'll just try it again in the warmer months...
