I'm sick of just letting people get away with it. After a while small shit and big shit all starts to smell like shit. And this thread is sort of catching some venting that it doesn't need. I was just tryin to talk about a beer I like. Local beers that I like... there are a few. But none of them really stand out the way some of these imports do. I like yuengling lager (Pa beer), Lionshead (another one) ... but most of the time American beers are "not bad" at best I like Sam Adams Winter Lager too. But my top three beers are dos equis(mexican), warsteiner(german) and smithwicks(irish)
My newly found best friend- Ommegang Three Philosophers. My mouth is watering looking at that picture. "A blend of Belgian dark strong ale and Lindeman's Kriek (a classic cherry lambic directly from Belgium). A wine-like color and a nose of malt, dark fruits, vanilla and sweet cherries...But there's more - coffee, currants, brandied raisins, chocolate and sour notes - all blending nicely across the palate. Careful aging is this beer's friend,A blend of Belgian dark strong ale and Lindeman's Kriek (a classic cherry lambic directly from Belgium). I like Warsteiners myself... not so much the Two X's. Corona makes a passable beer for light summer consumption but my tastes tend to run heavier. I do very little drinking these days so it's usually a microbrew I'll reach for. Sam Adams is pretty good- though I don't really see it as so much a microbrew considering its market share. I like seeking out local brews and sampling what is made on site at brew-pubs.
yeah, I just like a sort of dark flavor in my beer. I really don't like the flavor of hops unless it's subtle. Sometimes I do like to have a hoppy beer though. But this XX Amber is a much darker beer than the regular. But still very smooth and like.. no aftertaste.. nasty aftertaste ruins what would be a lot of good beers in my eye. And I love warsteiner dunkle... but more for the change I get the yellow box mroe often than not.
These are two of my favorite dark beer at the moment; German import This stuff is brewed in Montana The black and tan is very good, but one is enough, flavour wise. It's medium dark and has hints of fruitiness, citrus to it. It also has a bit of coffee flavour to it.
this is another local stout i like. it's a foreign style stout. mr sam, you should really try an imperial strength oatmeal stout before you knock it. warsteiner makes a good dunkelweizen and their original lager isn't bad either.
I was going to buy a 4 pack of chocolate stout tall boys once... but it was like 23 dollars and people said it wasn't even good. it was just sitting there with it's pretentious ass price jeering at me.
I've been hanging out with this guy who only drank coors light. He said "I don't like beer that tastes like piss" I said "No you don't like beer that tastes like beer" and "Wow this water kinda tastes like beer" Now at least he drinks Budweiser. But he still gets Rolling rock at the bar. Who drinks that piss?
It's funny how beer drinkers can be so snarky about their poison of choice. Sam you were saying about that guy and Coors light. My old roommate used to drink Coorslight almost exclusively. At the time I drank whisky, or anything that was put in front of my face really, and he'd go on about how digusting it (whisky) was or how it tastes like shit. I often considered telling him that he should save the $14 he spent on beer because he can get the same shit out of the kitchen tap for free. Any Innis & Gunn fans here? If you haven't tried it I highly recommend that you do. It's a little pricey, here at least, but it's well worth it. The one to the far left and the one in the middle are delicious.
Brooklyn Chocolate Stout is an excellent chocolate stout. You can't go wrong there and you should be able to find it in your area.
hahaha, but you probably like hoppy beers. I really don't. Different tastes. And I honestly don't think Bud is that bad. it's a true blue american beer. Bust your ass at work 10 hours a day then come home and chill the fuck out with a 6 pack of bud in front of the tv. It gives you the shits like nothing else, but so what?
i like all styles of beer, hoppy or not, but beers like bud, miller, coors, rolling rock..shit's not even close to real beer. it's like carbonated water with a little alcohol thrown in.
You'd be surprised. I challanged you to buy a 6 pack of Bud, and if you come and still feel the same after busting them down... I'll admit you're right. Deal?
I was just curious. In Canada the standard percentage is 5%, I believe it's less in the US is it not? That being said, most great beer is 7% and up.
5% abv here is my review of Budweiser: D- / 2 look: 2 | smell: 2 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 1 | drink: 1 rDev: -22.5% even when i was a macro guy, i stayed away from Budweiser. why? i don't know. i think mostly it is the ugly red can that annoys me. this was left at my house after an epic beer pong party Budweiser pours a yellow color that wants to be vibrant. the head is foamy, fizzy. i can hear the foam for few minutes after pouring. the smell is of very faint sweetness, almost floral. and then, nothing. not nothing as in there is no smell. it's there. it just doesn't have a discernable character. the taste is very sweet. it really just tastes like a plain lager with a nonexistent hop profile. from what i have gathered from their choice of ingredients and beechwood aging is that a tasteless, inoffensive lager is the goal. it does this very effectively. it is difficult to write a review for a beer that is intentionally flavorless. but then again, what can really be said about Bud that hasn't already been covered by the 1000+ reviews? the mouthfeel is what you would expect. watery, carbonated. drinkability? this review is the product of four or five big sips. im glad it didn't take more than that. i'll have a Torpedo now, por favor! ok, so 5% abv = about 4% abw. and there are a lot of great traditional cask ales from england under 4% that are wonderful and taste just as good as high alcohol beers
