I like both of them....but why green day and UK 70's punk music? do you feel they sound alike?? Peace and Love, Dan
Wire The Damned The Buzzcocks The Clash Richard Hell The Dead Boys The Cramps, although i guess they are more 80's the Germs the Stooges the Ramones the Fall X editoops some of those are American and more i can't think of
yeah 60s and 70s punk is good. missed out on seeing the MC5 recently damn it. 80s punk is good coz it went into different directions even more so, from the hardcore to the goth, to the revival backwards looking stuff.
nah. greenday arnt all that great. in my opinion it sounds like the rest of the damn catchy pop crap out there. 70's stuff isnt too bad. but the clash were just horrible
I'm kinda out of the whole punk music thing. There's too much hatred and irony associated with it. But I do like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Ramones, Sham 69, the Stooges, MC5, and the Misfits.
I like 70's punk band to an extent, depends on the band and I can only take so much of it, unless it's The Clash. I love the Clash. And I love Green Day as well.
Quote: im kinda over the punk thing too. punk is just the celebration of being a loser. Thats not always the case at all, it can be politically or sociologically rooted as well, not to mention reminding you to enjoy life instead of getting caught up in bill paying and red tape
They aren't rebelous and they aren't posers. They're simply a rock band, if they are called punk or alternative they're still just Green Day I think if anything all 80s punk was too pop-py sounding
you just gotta find it. Below is a link to band that has roots in the underground scene of the early 80's and all the energy and attitude coming out fo the UK in the 70's. The lyrics and bass playing are far beyond anything "punk" that Green Day has to offer... yet I still enjoy the poppy Green Day stuff on occasion. http://destroyeverything.com/webography.html Click on pic next to this section to have a listen... Luddites hated its heavy graphics, "punks" hated that it looked "cartoony," AOL users hated it because they just don't get it. You be the judge.
