does anyone else find it a huge coincidence that some of the biggest inspirations and greatest music artists of all time--janis joplin, jimi hendrix, kurt cobain, jim morrison, and brian jones all passed away at 27?

Around the world thousands of people die every day, but no one takes a look at those deaths and decide that there's some big coincidence.

Take a look, and as the above person said, you'll see that lots of inspirational people have died at ages other than 27. On top of that, they were all 27 years and some months old, so there is still a difference.

Maybe it has something to do with being 27 - think you're old enough to do stupid shit, but still reckless.

It is in fact a huge coincidence, I mean if someone is going to OD or kill themselves the late 20's makes perfect sense for famous people since this is normally the age most artists become big at.

    Also dead at 27:
-Robert Johnson(of the basis of all that became rock n roll fame)
    -Kiristen Pfaff(bassist of Hole fame)
-Mia Zapata(Lead singer of the Gits fame)
    -Ron McKernan(of Grateful Dead fame)
    -Alan Wilson(of Canned Heat fame)

But now think of all the famous people who didn't die at 27.

I think it's rather unfair to include Kurt Cobain in the list of "greatest music artists of all time." Good...yeah...I liked his music in high school, but really...

Now, now guys, you can't really deny Kurt as one of the "biggest inspirations." Maybe he wasn't the greatest artist, but he inspired too many kids.

The fact that I am far from musically inclined and the only songs I can play on the guitar are Nirvana songs proves that he wasn't all that at all. I enjoy his music, sure, but yeah...there's much better out there. Influential? Perhaps. Entertaining? Definitely. But greatest? Not by a long shot.

    lmao

Basically. Kurt made music a lot of angsty 15-25 year olds could relate to, and was perfect for the time since people were sick of hair metal. Also Nirvana put together songs really well, they're great to listen to. But the fact Rolling Stone had Kurt Cobain up near the top of their greatest guitarist lists for example was fucking ridiculous

lol Don't worry, hotness. I didn't think I'd make it past 20 and I'm still here. I'll probably be alive for at least another 15 years.
