First I believe you are referring to the kirtland safety society which was a HORRIBLE failure of Joseph Smiths. The reason people felt cheated was again the false assumption that a man, even a prophet was infallible. definitely a terrible handler of money.

second- a good number of his earliest polygamous marriages were to married woman so that is correct (again I referr to his apparent change of mind on polygamy in the last year of his life)

third- the only possible thing i think you could be referring to is his marriage to a 14 year old. We have to make sure that we are not looking at the 1800's with 2011 eyes. I dont even think you would recognize a 14 yo of that time as such if they were around today. People being married at that age at that time was not uncommon precisely why the critics of his age had no complaints about the age of his wives simply the fact that he had multiple wives

to further clarify, most americans would say george washington was a great leader and at least a good man and yet he owned slaves which is appalling to us but again we cant judge things of the past with our present worldview

Anyone thinking of being baptised into the LDS church will have lessons about the church's history and beliefs which should help the person to understand just
what they are being baptised into.

I was born into the mormon church, sat through it for a while. heart to heart when it all comes down to it.

im going to reccomend you to that read this first before you continue with any thoughts of being mormon:

    http://www.i4m.com/think/history/holy-ghost.htm

also there has been a thread posted

    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=295121&page=3

the bible itself is pretty far out there full of crazy storys of things and stuff, but with mormons, you have them writing there own book, ontop of the bible based off the bible. so you have a book, being written off of a book, thats pretty far fetched. so its all even more far out then the orignal bible.

im going to get super real with you for a second, and im going to try to put it in the most user friendly way i can. i need to get your perception on mine for this.

imagine if you had a dog, and that dog lived in a house all of its life. never went outside. all that dog would know is that house. the dog wouldent know about the river around the corner, and the dog wouldent know about the deserts and the mountains. all that dog would know is that house, and what it can see through the windows. the dog's reality is limited.

humans are in a similar boat. imagine if you place a human on a planet. all those humans will ever know is whats on that planet, and what we can see beyond.

everything besides the earth, was man made. money, politics, government, good and bad, right and wrong, religions, gods, everything has been created by man. what is real, and what we truly do know is the earth. this is what we have been given. what gave it to us, how we got it, we have plenty of theorys, but it really never matters. it just is that way. we have the earth, and this is what we know. now humans always try to explaine things and they cant ever just accept how things are, they always need to find reasons for it for better understandingment, its a great trait in humans. but people always looking how things got to be, trying to understand it all. but its just to much for our little earthly brains, we will never know, nor will anyone.

so no matter what someone writes in a book, it was written by man. it was made up by man. its not real, its not natural. its apart of the man made world and not the natural world. no man can tell you what is real, what is true, what is right and what is wrong. each reality is differnt, each person has there own. my words are no more right then your pastors or missionary.

the only thing about my words are they are real, they dont revolve around a book, they dont even revolve around another humans teachings. what they revolve around what is natural, what is real - the earth.

you are not a human being in search of a spiritual experience...u are a spiritual being immersed in a human experience

all they will do is confuse you, and mis guide you with there books and teachings. you will not learn anything from them besides there story, there history. all they teach you about is there people, there way, they will teach you about jospeh smith, they will hardly teach you about god. they teach you about the slective church history. when i went to church, all it ever was them talking about how much righter there religion is, and how they are the true religion, and how no other religion is right but there is the right on except for theres and how everybody is wrong and how everyone who dosent fallow the mormon church will go to hell because its not the right way, and they just talk about jospeh smith and all his storys. then people give testaments about how the church is true and how they believe it any why you should believe it too.

they dont even talk about your spirit.

if you want to learn about the bible, go to Christan or catholic church.
if you want to learn about the book for Mormon. go to Mormon church.

if you want to learn about your spirit, go down to the river.

return to the earth if you want to learn about your spirit.
