I have a San Pedro cutting that's been sitting in a cardboard box in my closet for about 15 months. It's a lot dryer (fortunately) and lighter. However, it's slightly discolored in spots and I'm wondering if it's being attacked by evil mold. I'm posting a pic.

There's some orange-ish discoloration. If it is mold, does it really matter since I'm peeling off the skin anyways? Should I swap up the preparation method I was going to use?

Also, the thing is so damn dry now and shrunken I almost feel like I could just despine it, cut off the outer layer, cut out the core and eat everything in b/t. Am I being ambitious? I know it tastes rough, but I've used the blender and simmering cactus juice method, didn't strain the pulp out and downed a liter of cactus slime with no nausea problems.

    Thanks for the input!

whoa, no nausea? Dood, your hard core.

As long as you cut off the bottom half and boil it there should be no problems. Use lemon juice to help DESTROY any mold and stuff. I had shit on mine too and I just cut it off then boiled.

No nausea... Man... Its like the worst nausea EVER for me. Maybe the core is what I am doing wrong? Or because I leave the skin on? Eh...

Remove the core and skin prior to boiling to reduce nausea, I've always felt it in my stomach but most the time its been pretty euphoric, almost like a weighed down Ecstasy euphoria. Im not sure what to tell you about the mold though.

Lol. Thanks for the input. I guess I will be boiling that ish up again. I really wanted to try a new prep, but I guess I shouldn't risk leaving any of the mold alive.

It tasted rough don't get me wrong and made me feel uneasy. I just accepted the taste and put my mind somewhere else before each chug. Then quickly chased with diet coke with lime.

    Ohh, coke with lime :D

Artificial sweeteners increase absorption by like 33%. Thats a good idea too.

The discolored parts were small. I decided not to do more prepping than removing the discolored parts and cutting off the outer layer. Im about halfway through eating this mofo. Dipping it in fruit punch juice mix and lemon juice concentrate. Makes em look bloody but they sure do taste sweet and good. It is a fair amount of cactus though. Good thing it's been sitting in my room for a year and lost a lot of the water weight.

Anyhow, time to enjoy my nopales. Farewell.

How did it go? I thought the mescaline trip was quite fun and different. Much more mental than any other drug I have ever done.
