I've always been curious why I (or anyone for that matter) gets itchy when they take opiates. I was wondering if anyone knew why that happens (chemically speaking, or what have you).

I just so happened to find a whole shit-ton of roxi 30s yesterday so i'm in roxi heaven right now! ::drools and nods out::

And for some reason, it seems like the oxycodone based opiates seem to make me more itchy than others. Any insight on the matter is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Opiate sends histamine to the skin. Tiny cells trying to get out your body.... You feel them as an itch..histamine is produced by basophils and by mast cells found in nearby connective tissues. Histamine increases the permeability of the capillaries to white blood cells and other proteins, in order to allow them to engage foreign invaders in the infected tissues

What Orison said is the actual histaminergic response after being stimulated.
The opiates bind to mu opioid receptors in your brain and intestine but, also stimulate your H5 and H1 receptors which are histamine receptors. So, essentially its like the drugs are tricking your brain into having allergies.
Then what Orison said, happens, and, you itch, sometimes get a rash etc.
Take half a benadryl, not a lot. The stimulation of the H receptors is not too strong.

    I don't know. Maybe there's a histamine release?

Either way, it is a comfortable itch.
