Since the majority of kids in 1895 weren’t going to school due to family obligations, were home schooled, or lived in poverty; the illiteracy rate was much higher Although for those who did attend school the standards were much higher Hotwater
Wow, this is really interesting, i was looking over a few of the questions and im not sure that i can answer all of these either. When i am a bit less tired and have time to take a test that is non-university related, i may sit down and look through these questions in more detail. very interesting. good post.

Note though how's minus some generalized questions like of what use is the ocean, the test is near completely devoid of science. This actually isn't much different than today. These really aren't hard at all and are what is still often taught around 8th grade.
