I've never gotten into Opeth. When they were in my iPod ages ago, when there was a shit song on random I'd go see what it was and without a doubt it was Opeth. Them or Enslaved, but mostly Opeth. Every. Fucking. Time.
you think this a shit song, seriously?? this album is the best metal album. period. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0hRznmgLUo"]YouTube - The Moor- Opeth
Uninterested. They let my ears down when I most needed them once upon a time. They shall receive no listening to!
I used to be really into Opeth during my soph/junior years of high school [late 05-mid 07] and I remember being really pumped for watershed coming out and I remember buying it but I still haven't really listened to it. Opeth was one of my favorite bands back then but these days they're just sort of boring to me :/ I think maybe I just played them out too hard and overall got tired of their style or something

I am such a fan of Opeth, as they combine my favorite musical genres(death metal and progressive rock) that I got a tattoo inspired by the portrayal of Melinda from the Still Life album cover. I am also a fan of Travis Smith, the graphic designer for their albums and various other metal albums... People tell me it looks like 'the virgin mary talking on a cellphone'. I should've invested in a more quality work but could only afford this size and thought, "hell, it does look like a 'virgin mary' ". So I went ahead and added the sun rays to reflect my hispanic heritage even though I'm not religious. Wiki: "Still Life is a concept album. Front-man Mikael Ã…kerfeldt explains: "The main character is kind of banished from his hometown because he hasn't got the same faith as the rest of the inhabitants there. The album pretty much starts off when he is returning after several years to hook up with his old 'babe.' The big bosses of the town know that he's back... A lot of bad things start happening."
They've become a retro-prog group now. No more death vox, less heavy material. That being said they still make some very interesting music & remain one of my fav's
dragging up the Opeth thread to see what everyone thinks of heritage, their latest offering. any thoughts? i'm on probably about my 6th listen through and i can't ever seem to concentrate properly on it, it just doesn't grab me like previous albums. it's taken a bit of a slating from the metalheads as it's definitley very prog but i like the transition of bands, i'm just not sure about this album. i'm seeing them live in november, so that will be the decider on this album for me.
