Hey guys, I'm starting to attend prenatal yoga classes tomorrow, and I'll have the class every week... once I get used to the classes I'll probably get into doing it at home too so that it's not only once a week...

Have any of you had experiences with prenatal yoga?
Did it help you through your pregnancy?
    Help with labor?
help you get your hot bod back after delivery?

any input would be really great!
    Thanks!

It definitely helps the process of pregnancy keep a balance in consciousness. The pranayama (breathing practices) are a tremendous help during the delivery. And of course, any kind of yoga dealing with the asanas (bodily positions) will firm the core the muscles and tone the overall body.

I am not a lady, but I have experience with women doing prenatal yoga, and I am aware of the benefits. I suggest bringing a meditative practice into the pregnancy. During your meditation, the mother can begin to consciously communicate with the child in womb. Fundamentally, the mother~child bond during pregnancy is empowered by yoga, meditation and prayer. This bond extends into the rest of the family via the communing presence of the mother and child. Some of these things I have talked about are more subtle than usual, but the results and benefits, go well beyond getting your hot bod back!

My only caveat (warning) is to make sure to practice any yoga with care, and delicacy, and you understand why the current condition dictates this.

You and the baby Are One! Once the child is born, do not forget the Real union/bond that is formed during the pregnancy.

Thanks, I can't wait to start going to the classes, and I believe they have a guided meditation after the yoga session is over as well... They have hypnobirthing classes there too but I can't afford them AND my mother is my birth partner and totally won't have any part in anything that seems unusual to her... :(

I may go out and find a midwife, do a homebirth and have my friend heather be my birth partner... I'd bet she'd do it if i asked her... she agrees with my methods much more than mom, she's so on board with the home birth, cloth diapering etc that I'm planing on going for. and she understnads how much it brings me down to have my mother treat me like i'm an idiot for not being all gung-ho about taking advantage of todays benifits (or as i like to say people today are spoiled rotten and don't give a shit that they're killing the very planet that gives them everything they could ever want.

anyway... a little off topic, but thanks
I've neve really meditated successfully but hopefully i can and will soon in the future.

The child within is in deep meditation, find a tangible conscious relationship with that peace. That will support your meditation, the baby may even teach you a little bit about what peace is.

Yoga is also beneficial in pregnancy because it helps you learn to breathe deeply and relax, which will come in handy as you face the physical demands of labor, birth, and motherhood. In fact, one of the first things you learn in a yoga class is how to breathe fully.
