i never heard anything about this. i had a handful of salvia experiences some months ago, including some terrifying life changing breakthroughs. alright, nothing new so far. but lately i noticed an unusual difficulty to remember some things, especially names of people i don't see for a long time. it doesn't seem to be anything too drastic, it can even be normal. anyway, i get this feeling that my memory and focus are not in their best shape since my salvia experiments. yesterday i found an old friend. last time i saw this guy was in october, when i presented salvia to him. he had a couple of trips which seemed to be joyful for him (he didn't break through). he asked me if i was still doing salvia, i told him that i still have some extract and i'm curious to explore, but it is too strong and i'm afraid if it could do some degree of damage to my brain, let alone the intense fear during the trips and the paranoid and derealized thoughts after them. then he said he wouldn't do it again too because he had a very difficult time trying to remember simple things in the days after his trips. he said he had sort of temporary memory loss because of it. what i want to ask is if any of you had noticed some kind of side-effect like these. salvia is an incredible exploration tool, a magic thing, but if it messes up my mental health, i'd be better not doing it again. and frankly, its effects are so extreme that it's difficult to believe salvia is as harmless as some of us users try to make it look.
It could (so could almost everything, even food), but it is unlikely. There are medical studies suggesting salvia may be effective in the treatment of some diseases, I doubt they would have overlooked brain damage. Thats a pretty big side effect. Temporary memory loss, that is probably much more possible and perhaps even likely. I doubt it would persist much longer than a few days, if it happens at all. Salvia is very interesting because of how cleanly it targets the opiod receptors. It is kind of like a chemical laser beam, it doesn't have many side effects because of that.
While salvia may have an after glow in which memory may be a little imparied, it is only temporary. Things like marijuana are going to cause much worse memory problems than salvia because of the way it effects the brain.
Back when I quit my expensive 1/4 pound a week pot habit it took me about 6 months to fully recover from the drooly/deer in the headlights moments. There were times I would start saying something, and then completely forget what I was saying mid-sentence and standing there with a puzzled look on my face. Most people were good about it and would remind me where I left off, but sometimes that wasn't enough. Occasionally I would remember later at a completely random time what I wanted to say hours earlier... It was a BLAST though!
I don't ever recall my memory degrading even from spiraling into a JWH habit that resulted in 150mg smoked in a day for a few days. I've found salvia kinda fucked me up in the head a bit after having a couple breakthroughs on it.
