Hi, I've never recognized much with any organized religion but as I grew up and live my adult life the way i see fit I know what I believe and don't believe... I don't believe in an invisible man (or person) in the sky watching everyone all the time... What I do believe is that the only god to me is the earth, if there is anything I should worship or have respect for it's this beautiful earth that gives us everything we have (regardless of how some humans misuse it all). The way that everything, plants, animals... EVERYTHING works together PERFECTLY... amazes me. I also believe in fate, that things are meant to happen when they happen... and I just want to know what are some religions who have similar feelings... I know that my beliefs belong somewhere within paganism or around it and I'm just not familiarized with any of it because most of the people around here are mainstream christian people who I wouldn't even TELL that I'm pagan because they may just assume I'm some kind of devil worshiper or something foolish... I also fell that I definitely get "vibes" from people... i can feel if they have good Energy or bad energy... that sort of thing... it's hard to make a list of things i do or do not believe... I just want to know where i may or may not fit and then I can look into it and see for myself... I appreciate your input and help.
I wouldn't worry about identifying yourself with any certain religion. You realized your beliefs through independent thought and as such your beliefs will never fall in line with any certain religion. with that said, if you really just want to explore different religions to see which line up the most with your personal beliefs, I recommend researching pantheism. Pantheism is above all a profoundly emotional response to Nature and the wider Universe. It accepts that these are the only reality that we can truly know, the only reality that truly matters, the only reality we have to relate to. They are the place we arose, the place we belong, the context of our daily lives. We are at home here. That emotional response has two primary elements. One is a sense of awe, wonder, reverence and acceptance of the natural universe, based on its power and beauty and mystery. This sense is the basis for some pantheists' use of words such as "god" "divine," though these words are never used in their traditional Western theistic sense. However, many pantheists prefer to avoid theistic words because of the ambiguity they give rise to. The other is a sense of belonging, of community with the starry skies, with all living beings and with our own bodies. This sense is the basis for statements about the unity of all things, and about the unity of the individual with the whole. It is the basis on which pantheists can talk about and experience union with the whole, similar to the ecstatic experiences of mystics in all spiritual traditions. http://www.pantheism.net/paul/beliefs.htm
i feel a lot the same way you do... what i believe doesn't really 'line up' with anything either... but i don't care i don't believe it has to, so it works out for me
I don't, not at all, I hate organised religion, i just don't like it, it doesn't sit well with me, but I would like to know where i fit best and then adapt their traditions to myself, etc. druidism seems to be the closest fit I've found... so for example I'd enjoy being able to recognize and celebrate the solstices and equinoxes as well as the seasons... that seems delightful to me.... s i guess... I'm some form of druid... it's not like that's something I'll parade the streets telling everyone... but it's nice to know.
Isn't that the same as joining a religion? I mean, aside from more orthodox versions, most people sit in church and listen to the preacher, but have their own interpretations and beliefs. Why do you want traditions to follow?
because traditions are enjoyable, they make you feel warm and toasty inside. for example... I'm definitely not christian... but I love christmas... because of all the love and the traditions you have with your family... So... if the tradition is related to something I believe in, it will be even better. that, and no, it's not the same thing... I don't plan on going out to find druids to do ceremonys with and such. My intention was simply to find out what kind of things other people who feel the same as i do...do. instead of having a bug ritual with a bunch of people, perhaps I'll find a place rich with the feeling of nature and go there and do something to celebrate the solstice.... it's not because I want to find or join a religion... I just like to know... I enjoy learning about things that interest me... and knowledge in general.
Paganism is too personal most of the time to mass congregate and celebrate. Even if you're into the same mysticism, chances are you follow different deities and even if the same, the prospects will be different. The stability of your mind should concrete which direction to follow and that's only for you. No one else matters. You take your own personal thoughts and emotions to your solstice, drink a bottle of mead and to hell with any one else. You cannot be wrong in Paganism. Well the ones I adore anyway. There's no right nor wrong. Pave your own road and when your dying day comes you'll see what you're in for.
I know what you feel... I was baptised Romanian Orthodox, but I can't say I'm a big fan of organised religion; I just believe in the Earth, and that it can and it will take care of us, and I believe that there are supreme forces beyond our comprehension. Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you, just continue looking, and maybe create your own set of principles and beliefs.
