So you've never heard of dandelion wine.

Seriously, people have appreciated the world's prettiest weed forever. You may not want them growing in your yard but they look great in a meadow! And of course when they turn white people like to blow the seeds off them.

Dandelions appreciate the wind.....and my front yard. They must appreciate being dandelion wine.....cuz' that stuff is good.

    Yields: About 1 gallon

    Ingredients:

    • 1 gallon dandelion blossoms
    • 1 gallon hot water
    • Juice of 1 lemon
    • 3 oranges, peeled and sliced
    • 4 lbs of sugar
    • 1 cake of yeast
Combine water and blossoms in a crock. Let stand for 24 hours, then strain.
Then add the rest of the ingredients. Let the mixture set for 3 weeks, then bottle.
Age the bottles for at least 2 months. (or until you just can't wait no more..)

I remember as kid I always thought they were the loveliest sight they way their little, yellow blooms would speckle the grass. Then some grown-up told me they were weeds... :( Fortunately, I'm back to thinking they're pretty flowers again...just flowers that some people may not want in their lawns. :)

Kinda looks like one. Dandelions - wild and free - going where the wind blows them - floating above the earth - dancing in the wind.

Holy shit... all this time I had no idea that those yellow buttercup flowers were the same as the white ball ones that fly everywhere. Man, that's crazy, all this time I thought they were two different things.

I think it was the english that brought the seeds to the US that were the first to really love them in America.

According to wikipedia the dandelion is native to North America and Eurasia.

Nope, it's invasive and a serious alien species to North America.

"Origin: Dandelion is native to Eurasia; in North America it is an extremely invasive alien species, growing in almost any conditions and difficult to get rid of. It was introduced intentionally by European settlers because of its medicinal properties."

Your source trumps wikipedia. And to be sure, I found another as well that supports you.

Sorry Jo King, wikipedia needs an edit.

EDIT: Hm on second thought, I realize we are confusing 'native' with 'indigenous'. Ohps.

I figured they are taking over and you can't kill them, they must be from Europe
