If he had libertarian economic policies, why did the federal government expand so much during his time? I think he was a bad actor, a puppet of the super-rich, with early signs of Alzheimer's.

In post #3 you ask for help in defending Reagan, in post #11 you say you do not want to defend him. That sounds pretty contradicting to me:confused:

Reagan's economic policies caused a recession and wreaked general havoc on the economy.

I noticed something about this thread. The guys that are old enough to remember Reagan don't like him but some of the youngsters that weren't around during his regime oops I mean administration seem to have a high opinion of him.

I think the younger generation has been reading the revisionist history brought to you by the Republican Party and the Texas Board of Education.

Some of em have been seduced by the Tea Party as well. I know more than a few kids that like to call themselves hippies but have their heads up the Tea Party's ass.

These kids weren't around to have their lives negatively impacted by ol ronnie's policies.

Good ol Ronnie riding wood and chopping horses oops or was that riding horses and chopping wood? I don't recall Senator!

The simple fact that he sold weapons to America's enemies and used the profits to fund a terrorist organization is more than enough to condemn him in the eyes of history and the eyes of God. If Obama had done that he would have been impeached. Ronnie did it and got treated like a hero.

the carter administration cut off funding to the gov. of el salvador because their army raped and killed 4 american church workers. now guess who resumed funding to these savage non-humans once he got in office.

70,000 people were killed in el salvador, a quarter of them women and a high percentage of them children, when the rebels we were fighting only claimed to be 10,000 strong and with our own military and cia intelligence saying probably less around 2,500.

if you read the human rights reports you hear stories of people forced at gunpoint to cut the hands off their own family, women hung up-side-down with their breast cut off, men getting their genitals cut off, soldiers bashing infants heads against rocks and throwing them in a river, if you want to defend reagan you have every right to do that but i dont because i like people to think i am a decent human being.

and thats just el salvador, forensic anthropologists are still to this day excavating the mass graves and identifying the victims in guatemala and elsewhere.

Some delicious irony-raygun pretty much shut down the places where people with mental troubles could get help in California,so it's well known that thousands of them ended up wandering the streets harming themselves and others. Karma nailed his ass--he barely had a' lick 'a sense during his "reign" and none whatsoever afterwards. Fuck that corpse.

he defunded mental health care all across the nation actually

that's really why jesus took his brain away

and he started the slippery slope that now has people calling for the workhouse and poorhouse, as well as the repeal of child labor laws

slavery soon come - or already has in our privatized prisons?

"fuck that corpse" - had to see it again, wanted to type it for myself

    [feels good]

Reagan's son has just written a book where he admits his father had Alzheimer's while in office.

My thought as I rise this morning. You know--there's a saying that goes like this="you become what you hate" Referring only to my own posts,I think maybe I'm beginning to sound somewhat like those whose politics just drive me batty. When younger,I figured out for myself how the political structure works here and then forgot about it and went about the business of learning how to respect others and and gain some measure of spirituality-qualities sorely lacking in my young life. I did,but looking at some of my posts, I think I need to back off and mellow back out some. I cannot sink to the level of the right-wingers that I decry by pointing out their faults ,yet mirroring them with own. OK-I "hate" the bastards -but for my own peace of mind,I have to stop on the politics for a while. No reflection on anyone else on the forums--politics is a passionate business---Just my thought this morning.

If you feel the need to defend Reagan then that is fine (I don't understand why you would want to but you have every right to). That said, surely you have some ideas as to why you feel the need to defend him against the claims made in the message sent to you. Research those claims, form your own opinions and write your own reply. If you need help coming up with ideas as to what to write the perhaps you should rethink why you are defending him at all.

    Just my opinion.
