Bank of America is bracing for the next big tranche of Wikileaks documents that may focus on their activities during the financial meltdown of 2008 and their following acquisitions of Merrill Lynch and Countrywide Financial.

Julian Assange has promised to release upwards of 5 Gigs of data from a hard drive taken from Bank of America.

The bank is so paranoid they've hired a consulting agency to help them track down the source of the leak and discover the information that Wikileaks is likely to expose. So far they haven't found anything...

I think we better start saving these Wikileaks cause today I notice a lot of them MISSING from the Wikileaks site! I don't see the entries from 12/30 and a few days prior anymore (saw them yesterday)...

I think Wikileaks is facing a major dilemma with the BoA data.

First it's not in a convenient format for publication. They'll have to import the data into some kind of format that can be published.

Secondly it surely contains a lot of unimportant data that tells us nothing about wrong-doings by the company. No need for that info to be released.

Third, it probably has the names of many company employees on it, many of whom are innocent, so there might be the need for redaction of those names.

Fourth, you can bet part of the reaction by BoA will be a lawsuit, probably against wikileaks, and their financial situation has deteriorated thanks to BoA and others stopping Wikileaks transactions.

In reality, it should be Wikileaks suing these banks for stopping payments based on nothing. Wikileaks has yet to be charged with anything, yet they've been treated like a pariah by the US business establishment. Meanwhile BoA has many cases including federal ones pending against it... So who is the criminal here?

I'm looking for the government's fingerprint in the creation of the toxic bubble that precipitated the collapse as well as their encouragement for the banking sector to consolidate to create an anti-competitive environment against the spirit of antitrust legislation.... and a way to phrase it so regular people get it.

I think you've got it backwards. It wasn't the gov't that told the banks what to do, it's the other way around. Don't forget who Bush & Obama's advisors were. Banksters. Banks crafted the legislation, you can be sure. That's what happens now in America. The corporations decide what would be the ideal legislation to help them make even greater profits from Americans, and the politicians just rubber stamp it.

I think that is what will be revealed. How BoA and the other banks CONSPIRED to create the scenario we now face and how they pressured the gov't to get bailed out (even tho some banks denied wanting it!)

Don't you realize how EASY it is to be a politician these days? You don't even need to craft the laws anymore! Lobbyists hand you the laws they want passed, and the politicians get bought off easily to pass it. What kind of work is that? No more difficult than robosigning thousands of foreclosure documents... ANYBODY CAN DO IT!

If politicians included the WILL OF THE PEOPLE in such legislation, that would be WORK, and require going against the WILL OF THE CORPORATIONS, which they can't do...at least not if they are hoping to get PAID BACK with a cushy new executive job with high salary in the same industry when they leave office.

I stand corrected... you are correct and I'll settle for that for the purpose of translating to plain English for common consumption.

I used to work for the ATM Department of bank of America in Tampa. During my training I learned that the bank started in the early 1900's as the first bank of Italy and it was owned and operated (secretly) by the mafia. During the depression they were the only bank to give out loans on just a handshake (and a bullet in the head if your ass didn't pay up!)

So, shall we start taking bets as to whether or not the BoA will receive any REAL penalties (if shady dealings are found)? Pfft, what a waste that would be when we all know the answer.
