faith in humanity...

...is total bullshit.


So, as some of you know, I´m currently living in South America.

Earlier today, (about 8 at night) I was walking down the street in a fairly crowded area, and across the street I see a full grown man punching this little kid who is laying on the ground.

The little kid is screaming at the top of his lungs, and the dude is just standing over him wailing on him.. I could hear every fucking punch from across the street.


whats more.. there are people everywhere, just walking around him. Not even looking at either of them. Just ignoring them like they do homeless people. Keep looking straight ahead...

On the upside, someone standing behind me was calling the police as I was watching this.

I chose not to intervene because I´d rather not get knifed in the stomach, and I´m not a very big person, so even if he didnt have a knife, he would´ve beaten the shit out of me. That seemed like a good reason not to get involved at the time, but looking back, I guess I´m not any better than all those other fucking assholes who just looked away.


Seriously.. anyone who claims to have any faith left in humanity is either kidding themselves, or just an idiot.

Everyone is turning into a zombie. I stood on a street corner few years ago for a while just watching. Many people seem very hard on children. Abusive words are heard, you know its worse at home. People are over weight, or drugged out, covered in makeup to cover up insecurities. Thirteen year old girls dressing like they selling them selves. Teenage boys dressing and talking as if they from the projects. Homeless are ignored and treated like dirt.

There is a lot wrong thats for sure, and honestly most of the time it seems like nobody gives a shit.

 

No you're not. No one is any better than anyone else. We're all part of the problem in some way.

I have nothing more to add really, the title combined with the thumbs down drew me in. Most people are shit, I guess that's why I came in

I suppose it's best to simply be around good people who we love, and ignore the rest. Unfortunately we have to share this planet with all the rest of them. That's too bad...

dont let someones big nose bother you.. I mean.. if his nose was bigger than yours and he was shorter than you. would you be intimidate by the size his nose?.. What if the guy had big size 12 feet but only stood 5ft tall.. just because someone is bigger it dont mean they are wiser.. Use your head, you could of easily called them off the kid and dodged around a car, or take off your shirt or sock,< only takes one second, load sock up with rocks WHACK!!, a good sweat sock will stretch over a foot, giving you 2 ft from Attackers. .. Damn, you wouldnt last a minute in the hood.:afro:

 

If you really feel that there are no redeeming values in humans and have no faith in anything good being left in humanity I really don't see why you would bother living.

If you refuse to see the good and selfless things that some do for others than you are kidding yourself too.

 

Several decades ago while walking to our car, my ex wife and I ran across a man smacking his girlfriend around. That's something I don't tolerate.

So I stepped in to help her and ended up getting attacked by both of them, go figure.
Lucking for me my ex had gone to get a cop while I stepped in. Now I just call 911

 

So did I read this right. You're complaining about everyone just walking around him BUT YOU DID THE SAME THING?

Are you a better person than everyone else because you NOTICED IT and everyone else was just walking around?

How are you any different than everyone else in this crowd?


It would be one thing if you were explaining that you saw it and weren't sure what to do. But you are accusing the other
people around you of doing the exact same thing that you did.

"Faith in humanity" is sick irony to me.

I should hold a conviction of ignorance that humans will do the right thing while most humans hold a conviction of ignorance that fate is predetermined by some God?

Humans are FUCKED!

 

In the future stand off to the side-10 feet away-a safe distance-

Start pointing at what is happening, yelling for him to stop, and call everyones attention around him.

As you call attention to it-more people will stop and watch. Once there is a crowd you can then act.

There wsa a famous incident in the early 70's in New York City. A lady was repeatedly raped in an alley in the middle of the summer. No one had air conditioning back then-everyone had their windows open. She cried for help for hours and no one helped her. People reported the next day that they heard something but no one wanted to get involved.

 

you gotta have some faith in humanity! I think sometimes it's much easier to see the shit that's going on as opposed to the good stuff. It's much more in your face.We all gotta live in this world so we have to do the best we can.

 

Trust me, people do way worse stuff to each other than you're describing here.

People have been hurting and killing each other since the beginning of time, but it's no reason to loose your faith in humanity. I sometimes think the same thing(humanity sucks) when I see some of the horrific things that go on in the world, but then I see some of the really good things that people do and I think....... There's hope for us yet

Now, let me play the devils advocate for a minute,
How do you know that this kid wasn't going around the neighborhood and wailing on kids half his size, and the man wailing on him was his father and was teaching him a lesson like "so, you like beating on people half your size, let's see how you like it".

That's happened to me twice now. Both times it was as though the woman/girl was mad that I was telling her boyfriend what to do. Fuck it, I won't make that mistake again. I don't understand what's wrong with women like that.

 

A friend and I were at a Mickey D's years ago and about the same thing happened. Some drunk guy was sitting in his car and had his wife/gf by the hair and was slapping her.

Me and my buddy ran over. He opened the car door and I grabbed the dude by his jacket and start wailing on his face. He just took it...and held on to the the lady's hair.

Cops showed up eventually and took over. Of course, his wife was making excuses for him and begging the cops not to arrest him. We shook our heads and split in the middle of the commotion.

Last time I ever tried to be a chump hero.

 

Acts of humanity are of the one.

Interesting though that acts against are also of the one.

Guess each person has to decide for themselves which one the would rather try to live.

 

maybe it wasn't a little kid, but was actually a notorious midget criminal, finally getting what's coming to him.

some people are actually able to live life for themselves rather than for other people.

 

If you have no faith in humanity than by default you would have no faith in yourself, so again I don't see the point.

If I had no faith in myself I wouldn't be too keen on being around myself.

 

Guess what? "Themselves" is part of humanity too.
