So I do study chemistry at a low level and i'd like to do some legitimate experiments, but I'd really like to buy some glassware mostly for distillation and filtration to go with my vacuum system stuff and a sep funnel. I'm also planning on doing extractions, distilling alcohols and doing other drug-related chemistry.
How good is United Nuclear as a supplier, is it better to look around for a non-internet store? How should I go about getting good glassware? This is just mostly beause I like glassware and chem though, not for a major lab.
Also, where would i look to acquire pyridine salts?
    -thanks

It looks to be open ended and somewhat flimsy but a good price. Could work for some things. Overall some usefull items and fairly cheap.

I have been acquiring a fun, handy-dandy chemistry and mycology lab for a bit now and really want to go back to school and study organic chemistry with a double minor in ethnobotany and ethnomycology. Once you get started, the process of playing around becomes a passion and your own curiousity a drug of sorts in its own right, somewhat like a gambling addiction I'd imagine (that, simply because I don't gamble but the three times I have--two lottery tickets and the slots once in all of my adult life, lol).

My next toys I want to add to my collection are a vacuum distillation apparatus, a steam distillation apparatus, a Soxhlet extractor, a Coldfinger extractor, Erlenmeyer flasks with screw tops (to replace mason jars) & other pieces of volumetric labware beyond your average beaker, an automated vacuum pump with a micropourous filter, a centrifuge, an autoclave, burettes, amber bottles, a fractioning column, a reflux condenser, and so on and so on...of all of the above, getting my hands on a Coldfinger extractor & a vacuum distillation apparatus are the tools I desire the most!

    Cheers! :cheers2:

my fav place to buy glassware is Ebay, there are some great shops there and if they don't have what you're looking for just ask them and you'll see it. The reason I go with Ebay is because I live in the states and don't like people digging through my trash. It's happened a couple times

how old are you? I'm not in the states but work with guys who are, you can get put on watch lists for mail order, ebay collate data. Over the counter and at second hand fairs are the key, but what you gain in no paper trail you lose in face to face anonymity, so need to put on a front.

PS - you make them. But I wouldn't use the phrase "legitimate experiments" and the chemicals you're looking for in the same discussion again
