Thanks for giving me a platform on which to lay down some thoughts... I did not read the link...but here are my own thoughts on the matter... People can be 'pre-judged' in either a bad or good way... I've known many who have been pre-judged or rated, in a good or positive manner...do to their looks or social standing...they are the lucky ones...cause they get a free ticket, whether they deserve it or not.. That free ticket will vary depending on what country or nation you live in...but I want to narrow it down to America, since that's where I live... And that free ticket will vary depending on what community your apart of or trying to be apart of... 2. When most think of 'Prejudice'...they're thinking of it in a negitave manner...not positive... 3. It's a inclination many are born with... Like cancer cells, we're all born with them...but in some, most, those cancer cells lay dormant...in others those cells are activated for whatever reasons.. In regards to 'prejudice' it could be activated by their enviornment, raising, and other factors about self. 4. As long as people feel inadequate about self...they will feel inadequate about others...and feel the need to 'distinguish' from others to reinforce 'flawed' self...prejudice, like racism, is spurned on by inner inequadies. Someone who really feels whole and complete...will also feel confident, thus won't have the need to pick at or point out appearent flaws in others. 5. When most think of 'prejudice'...they typically first invision a 'white' person..(the majority)(in country where that applies)...being so against a person of color... But prejudice or the urge to be, is an impulse that lies within all... Islamic believers can be prejudice against non islamic believers...Jocks can be prejudice against Rockers...Southerners can be prejudice against Northerners Hippies can be prejudice against other hippies who feel some don't meet their ideal of what a hippie should be...gays can be prejudice against other gays, blacks can be prejudice against other blacks and whites can be prejudice against other whites...in both positive and negitave manners... 6. Everyone cries against prejudice, when directed at them..(the negitave kind)...yet think nothing of being prejudice against others for said reasons.... 7. There's cultural prejudice, racial prejudice, sexual prejudice, religious prejudice, political prejudice, ethnic prejudice, tribal prejudice and many many many more... 8. Racial prejudice has a certain sting to it, that the others may not at times...cause most other prejudice is a matter of style and taste...one can always change their hairstyle or style of dress or even behavior, to blend in with majority...(this can apply to any nation)... But the one thing you can't change is your biology (with the exception of MJ) Or how people percieve it.(refering to genetic traits) Some racial groups are percieved or pre-judged in a 'good' way...just by 'default'...and are considered good or standard, until they do something to proove otherwise... Other racial groups are pre-judged or percieved as 'bad' or 'negitave' or 'dark' or 'gutter'...and have to go through great lengths and effort to proove otherwise, as induvisuals... (again the object of the negitave prejudice will vary depending on what country, region ect ect)... 9. I doubt it will ever go away...cause each person born carries within them (like dormant cancer cells within everyone) the potential or nature to be prejudice...as a result, most just learn to live with it, or deal with it... 10.Spock had to learn to deal with prejudice, do to his highly developed ears....
Also if someones prejudice against you...there's nothing you can do to change their mind...they have to 'fix' what's within themself first, before they will ever deem you worthy of friendship, attention, acclimades, compliments, acknowlegdments and the other things that come from a balanced relationship... Everyone who I have ever known to 'change their ways'...or views of others, it has always started with 'self' first...and they will tell you this... Once they fix self, then and only then, will they begin to see you in a whole different light...
my grandma gave me stockings for christmas this year. we couldn't decide if she was suggesting i start a life of crime or a life of crossdressing.
Now once you meet someone, invite them into your life, and have given them a fair chance to define themselves as an induvisual...now you can more fairly evalute them based on their observed behavior. For instance...say they steal from you, track mud onto your carpet, after you asked them not too... Routinely lie to you, eat your food when your not home...constantly borrow money from you ect ect... Now you can decide 'Hey, I don't want this person in my life no more'... You gave them a chance, and they blew it....and they were probablly allowed into your life to begin with cause ya prejudged them in a 'good' way based on exterior attraction. Yes, prejudging people in a good way, can also work against you. That's how many manipulate others...they know they 'Got it going on physically'.. In regards to whatever group their into. And so are routinely given that free ticket of instant acceptance...only to turn around and bite the hand that feeds them... Where as others never get that free ticket and have to fight just to get let in the door...until finally some just give up and form a identity around rejection or being an outcast... It amazes me, all the people I've met in real life who I know could of been awesome friends with...but many of these induvisuals convinced themselves, for whatever reasons, that do to A,B,C we couldn't possible have anything in common except for general generic chatter about the weather... And then i see these same induvisuals later, who trusted others who turned around and practically destroyed their lives... So remember, prejudging someone in a good way can also work against you, primarily if it's based on none character traits... The next time you give someone a free pass into your life... Ask yourself 'Why did I give them a free pass?' Be honest with yourself and see what you come up with...
Im interested in doing the same thing that the video shows in another country. I can think of several places where people might laugh at me. Asian countries are paranoid as hell; not just from this video.
If you don't want to answer, that's fine...but now you've got my curiousity aroused in that I'm wondering why people would laugh at you, particularly in Asia??
My judgement was only from this video and not as a whole. I've never been to an asian country. I was just saying i might be able to make a joke elsewhere. No personal hurt intended
My bag...I read into it wrong...I see now it was meant as humor... Actually I responded out of concern for you, cause I thought you meant people were laughing at you for being 'different'... My bag... Well, I'm glad your ok, and that no one is laughing at you...
