Being Harrassed Online

So....I broke of a "budding romance" with someone and now they will not stop harrassing me online. He sends paragraphs of insulting emails and threatens to post nude photos of me on facebook. The problem with that is that I have blocked/been blacked from his profile, so I am unable to see if his threats are credible, nor am I able to report the photos to facebook.

oh, what a nice opportunity to get some nudes . Well, well, well, well, the best advice I could give is to stay cool and enjoy the show. Harassment is only fun if you are annoyed and raging, isn't it. Depending on what exactly is going on you might consider legal action. But that is complicated and might not be worth the fuzz.

I would offer to help, but in this strange incidence, I'd prefer to be a gentleman and not ask to see photos of you that you deem risque.

1-Save these emails. If you in any way feel threatened contact the police and if you feel you need it-you should get a restraining order against him.

2-Contact the facebook admins. Forward these emails to them. They take this very seriously.

3-Laws vary against publishing nude pictures of other people online-but in general it is not illegal if they were taken with your permission (which I guess they were). H cannot make money off of them.

4-I would not respond to any of his emails.

which law of which country is to apply in such a case? Seems not very easy to decide. Armies of lawyers make a good living out of such problems. Anyway, good tips.

Do these things, especially point #2, Facebook will probably ban the guy immediately to avoid the publicity.

But unfortunately, at the end of the day, if this guy has nude photos of you and he wants to show them off, there is absolutely nothing you can do about that. Decisions lead to consequences.

My kids are home so I can use their facebook accounts (I do not have one) to report it.

and I thought it is because your camera has not enough zoom *duckandhide* . Well, you are right. You can give away pics of your face or pics of yourself doing silly things or nudes. But you have to have in mind that you can't control what happen to them. Think before. If you are uneasy with that don't do it. There are a handful of pics of me on the internet. But on them I am a member of a crowd. I don't want to have my pics on-line. If I trust someone enough the person can have a link to a few pics of me. If the one disappoints my trust I will get his or her arse. Maybe not immediately, but I get it.
