The book is one of the funniest I've ever read, and one of my all time favorites. I also love the movie, and contrary to Mystical_shroom, I can totally watch it over and over. I mean, not consecutively, but with every time I've seen it, it doesn't get old.
Loved them both. I own both the book and the movie. Saw the movie first and liked it so much I wanted to read the book to see if there was more detail (usually is). Couldn't have picked two better actors for that movie than Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro (sp?). Anyway I've seen it many times and it only gets funnier because you pick up on more stuff.
yeah i loved the movie!it was so funny, and such realistic "tripping" acting... ive never read the book tho, didn't even know there was one, but hey now i do! thanx peace out
Thompson IS wasted! i love them both, it is one of the most favorite movies that i quote randomly with my friends, it is certainly a modern day masterpiece, but with implications and subtlies vasty overlooked, like the effects of the seventies and the drug culture, Wonderful. It does extend the myth of HST, but thats what he deserves, "One of Gods own Prototypes..."
Chuck, you totally should. Hunter S. Thompson is amazing as a writer. The book is so twisted and drug-crazed, and brilliantly written. The movie I like also, it's very similar to the book. Johnny Depp does a great imitation of Hunter S. Thompson. 'Tis quite entertaining.
did anyone notice in "pirates of the carribean" johnny depp still had that raul duke thing going on??
as long as noone here takes it at face value - divide everythng he did by about 3/4's and thats probably what happened.
Math is confusing. Do you mean it was exagerated or understated? Cuz dividing by 3/4 is multplying by 4/3. Anyway... I thought the book was brilliant but the movie didn't really do it for me. I guess thats always what happens when you read the book first. I read the book my senior year in high school for a class "revolutionary writtings" that class was the SHIT!!!
Yeah, I was wondering about that as well. Because you would be increasing it if you devided by a fraction.
a friend of mine at school loves fear and loathing. when i first met him, every time he'd get drunk (which was alot) he'd want to watch the movie. he's finally gotten over than and just acts like an ass now. i personally like the movie, but in small doses. i can't watch it all the time, bu every once in a while it's great! i wanna read the book. don't know many people that have!!!
