Hey! I used to have an account here but that was forever ago and I forgot the password. Anyway, I'm 18 live in Florida, go to FAU, and am the incoming president of NORML/SSDP at FAU. Going into college I thought I'd be an English major, but as of now I think I want to major in religion specializing in hinduism or drug religion/spirituality (studying how drugs such as lsd and mushrooms have impacted religion). Uh...I love working out, riding my bike or longboard, I just got my license (no car though). Uh...chillin with friends...being ridiculous...granola...yogurt. Yeah.
Hey, welcome to hip forums Florida must be great for longboarding, it's against the law where I live.
It's against the law?! Wow...that's harsh. I don't longboard so much now cause I'm on break so I use my bike more, but when I'm on campus I try to longboard as much as I can. It's hard to maneuver around everyone though so I usually just do it an night. The cold is a nice change, but I wish it would make up it's mind. I wake up, it's cold, midday it's hot again and I'm sweating balls, then it's back to cold at night. Then the next day it's hot, then the next day it's cold, yadayadayada etc. Get's annoying.
Yep, any skateboarding, cruising or longboarding is illegal on all streets and sidewalks. I hate going to parks so it's hard to find good spots to cruise. Bike paths are good, but that really pisses people off. I think for your first 'offense' it's only a $25 dollar fine, but it increases the more you get caught. Cops are dicks here too because it's a government city.
I live in Ontario, Canada. It's not at all a police state where I live. Cops are actually pretty nice and very lenient, especially when it comes to cannabis. But because of all the government here, it has to look really good and presentable. People riding around on skateboards presents a negative image with tourists and business people I suppose. The plus side of that is they don't arrest a lot of people, especially downtown because that looks bad too.
I was thinking of eventually moving up to Canada. I here it's real nice up there, and they tolerate just about everything. Except longboarding I guess lol. From what I hear California is where you want to go if you're into longboarding.
Canada's an absolutely fantastic place to live, as long as you live in Nova Scotia, Ontario, or B.C. The other provinces, not so much, they're very different, more of the stereotypical versions of Canada. Halifax, Vancouver, and Ottawa are the three most tolerant cities when it comes to drugs, psychedelics and cannabis at least. For the most part though the whole country is pretty lax when it comes to drugs, oh yea, except for our Nazi Prime Minister, but he'll be gone next year. :2thumbsup: I don't know what the skateboarding laws are out east and out west. I think they're both fine with it. As for drugs, we currently don't send most of those caught with them to prison, granted they're softer drugs like weed or psychedelics. In Ottawa the Chief of Police has said that he personally is fine with people carrying up to 7 grams on their person, as are most cops who'll most often only warn you if you're caught with 7 or less, granted they're not individually bagged. Out east is pretty lax as well. In Vancouver weed and shrooms are practically legal.
That's so good. I go to school in a pretty conservative area and we have a police station on campus "for our protection." Ha! Bullshit. I don't know what our chief of police thinks of weed, but I'm def going to look into that. I didn't know Canada was capable of electing a nazi prime minister lol all you guys seem so liberal and accepting.
We really are, but what happened was he lied and deceived us in the traditional North American political way, by promising us good things. And then after the election he tried to cover up Canadian war crimes and now he's trying to pass the horrible new mandatory minimum sentence law to go after cannabis users and growers. As you can clearly see in this before and after election picture, he drastically changed over night...
lol that's quite a transformation yeah florida is pretty rough with pot. I did however go to the West Palm legislative delegation and spoke about medical marijuana and the delegation seemed open minded and willing to listen. I doubt any of them have the balls to draft any legislation for medical but I guess that's politics. I help out this organization PUFMM sometimes and I hear they're really close to the number of petitions they need to get it on the ballot. Hopefully we can get that done.
Same thing here. I had an account but also forgot my password, so I just made a new one. Good luck to you in college.
I'm involved with the same group, I think we have close to enough signatures for the election board to review the bill, but we need a bunch more to get the bill on the ballot.
