I think its a nasty drug, as some say you either love it or hate it, ive seen people addicted to it and it does cause brain damage. stay away from it, have some valium and pot and be happy
Definitely a hard drug. I'm not sure what the definition of hard drug is if ketamine don't fall under this umbrella. Alcohol is considered a hard drug, cocaine is considered a hard drug. Half a gram can render many people unconscious. Fucks up coordination pretty good at all doses. Its far more addictive than alcohol and even cocaine to me and even if you want to dispute the level of addiction there is no denying its addicting to many. same type of drug as pcp Not really sure where there is much grey area.
It's subjective really. I think it is. It can be used well and a person can have a beautiful experience with it but i've seen the other side of it.
another one that cannot be classified either way is opium.. although i think its the opposite of hard, many people consider it to be on the same level as heroin. including many recreational (mdma, lsd) drug users!
I for one have always thought of hard drugs as the ones that overdose can happen more so than the soft drugs. Herion and some other opiates fit my idea of hard drugs as a person could easily overdose(not that I think you will overdose for sure if you take a recommended amount, but if stupidity, accident and what not occur). LSD on the other hand, I think it would be hard to overdose on, unless taking an absurd amount intravenously perhaps. Hard to find evidence if this has ever occurred or not. So I cannot see overdose on this substance as practical. From what I have found quickly by scanning the internet, the median lethal dosage of ketamine is 400mg/kg. So a person roughly my weight would have to consume about 28 grams when taken intravenously and have a 50% chance of living. 28 grams seems a bit excessive for the picture of the average drug user in my mind. Therefor I would not see ketamine as a hard drug. Although maybe the drugs potential for abuse should be taken into account also. Like I said, this is just how I view hard and soft drugs, I personally have felt like I've abused drugs other than weed and nicotine. I think the whole idea of "hard" and "soft" drugs is pretty relative, because after all, there all just drugs.
What are we considering overdose too? If overdose is dying surely cocaine, meth and alcohol cannot be considered hard drugs as you would basically have to try to purposely kill yourself with those. If you consider unconscioussness, vomiting, and inability to respond overdose then you can overdose on ketamine below a gram. I guess there is some sort of subjectivity but really I think its kind of a sad we can't make a differentiation between them. Its kind of sad to me we are at a point where we consider a drug with the main way to ingest is to snort or inject and is addicting a soft drug. It just perpetuates that lifestyle and gives junkies more excuses, I dunno.
Its nearly like saying what drugs are good and which ones are bad, to a certain extent. We all have our opinion about these drugs because we each have slightly different brain chemistry, so while we have similar experience with the substances, I don't think any 2 person have the same one, and if so, hardly ever. Its about perception, and since there is no completely uniform categorization, no universally accepted ways to think about these chemicals, we're all free to use our own imaginations. After shortly thinking about it, we should just drop the idea of soft and hard drugs, since it doesn't completely make sense. Like a loosely closed theory. Sorry for rambling.
Id be willing to bet a significant percentage of the population without tolerance would puke or lose consciousness on ketamine somewhere under 1 gram. I mean this we're all unique butterflies view we live off today only goes so far. Because with this view we can now open the gateway for crystal meth use, heroin use (just because you know someone who may die from it doesn't mean I will) and all justifications to abuse drugs. Honestly if thats the view that we can't make some sort of discrimination between drugs I'm glad the majority are illegal. Shit the scheduling systems do a better job of defining different drugs than the people in this thread are doing.
well binging on ket doesn't have a comedown whatsoever, just a very fiendish desire to return to the state if the ketamine is available. after doing 10 grams in less than 2 weeks I did not have any psychological side effects, withdrawals, or bladder issues whatsoever after or even a strong desire to return to that state (I held onto like a gram after the binge for a week and then shared it with some friends) even though I will always remember how fucking great K is. this is not to say that if I continued my pattern of use I wouldn't have encountered something, but I mean if you were to do that kind of frequency of use with any other drug besides weed you'd be wishing you didn't after it - not with K.
LOL now remember mmg no 2 people are the same, I've had some hellish comedowns binging off k, thank god for caffeiene!
i've never had a k comedown either, even after 30+ days using. though one of my friends speaks of major paranoia and stuff like that... he is autistic and has aspergers so he's already crazy. in the uk people see k as a problematic drug for this reason as you can do it midweek and go to work the next day as no comedown.
