That is almost how my hair looks when it is up, the sides aren't dreaded and it sort of hides my dreads. Find anything nasty in the few you combed?
They still may make me take them all out I am not 100% it all depends on how neat I can make them. I am really upset on how thin my hair is going to turn out though.
Sorry to hear Liz ... if it helps, it's all one big joke anyway Well, that’s what Churchill reckoned, which is why he drank his way through WWII. I've come to accept the one big irony for what it is ... life’s not about achieving anything, it's about the ongoing mission of trying to ... Completion is the human carrot on the stick Take It Easy PS. There is also a leason here ... Never, ever think that your manager has your back ... 9 times out of 10 they get you do sh*t they want you to do, by making out like it comes from the top.
No I talked to the Corporate Manager and asked him, He is coming in on wed. to make sure my hair isn't a mess. He is a dick, and hopefully someone will buy in and own the place and run it without so many stupid rules. Thank you though, I would have never said yes if it wasn't for my boss fighting for me to keep them, I heard her on the phone and she did try to let me keep them. When she hired me she didn't think it would have made this big of a deal, not her fault. She saw me for who I am and not my hair.
Fuck being a rasta, pretty much every major religion (Abrahamic or otherwise) has a legitimate claim to dreads as an expression of faith.
For Sure ... may as well chuck Pagan and Jedi in the mix while we are at it. That Rasta thing is a feeble reasoning though; as if His Majesty needed a hair style to proove anything anyway
Well I brushed all my hair out. Super thin due to the bleached dreads, so warning to those who dyed and bleached let your hair grow for a while before you brush at least a year mine was 6 months. Was it worth it, well yeah I really love my new job. I will prolly not post a pic because I think it looks ugly and it will stay in a pony for a couple months until my hair thickens up and I can cut it to look healthy and stay long. Well good luck to all those who just started, and good luck to those who want to brush. Do exactly what that video shows, it really does help and work. Later
It does suck but having dreads doesn't pay the bills. There are a lot of companies that wouldn't even hire someone with dreads corporate or not, for the simple fact that they are basing it on a stereotype that people with dreads are potheads. If you don't like it then start your own company (then hire me please so I can dread my hair )
this thread made me think about my future best of luck to you Liz in your new job, its a good thing that you like it otherwise it would have suck to get rid of your dreads for a crapy job
That was the entire reasoning for them telling me they have to go. It wasn't because they thought that about me, it was the simple fact that its in a rich area where the costumers would think I am just hippie stoner who wouldn't take care of there dogs properly. The company had complaints because one of the girls looked sloppy and like she just rolled out of bed. So in a sense it wouldn't be fair if I had messy hair. Pretty lame, but I love working with dogs and the pay is great due to those snotty rich people.
Thanks for all your support, I will try and stick around and post some pics when my hair is not so thin. Before and After shots
All brushed out and done. This was my first night out without dreads in a year and a half, it was weird brushing and doing my hair, but it looked pretty good and got some compliments. very long after I brushed. [/IMG]
I guess it depends alot on the field in which you work, or want to work? I've yet to encounter a problem with having dreads / job (working in graphic design :2thumbsup. I work/live in one of the most snobby uppity parts of the states and just attended the x-mas party for a wealth management company .. the only thing the pilled up rich old ladies at the party had for my dreads was curiosity and funny questions
Damn! It does suit you though. And how does it feel pulling your fingers through your hair? God I miss doing that lol
Thank you In all honesty is was wonderful at first but now I realize why I got dreads in the first place I hate brushing my hair and doing it. I hate spending an extra 10 minutes before work doing it. I want to keep it long but its getting to be a pain in the ass and I want to just chop lol.. Everyone told me they think I should leave it long. So I think I will keep letting it grow for a while then trim the dead hairs. I felt really bald after I cut, so weird. On the plus side I can go Hat shopping and fit my cute hats again
Thats not true, because I never had a problem with my field of work having dreads until now. It depends on the company and if they feel its appropriate or not. Good for businesses or not. It all depends on the company you decided to work with, and I decided to stay with the company because they offered me a lot more money then any other place. I also am up for Lead position, another reason why they wanted me to brush, because I would be working with a lot of people instead of just the animals.
