Third parties are great if you live in a country where parties share power, rather than teh winner-take-all shit we have in teh USA. It's all about teh lesser of two evils here, baby.
Eventually socialist run out of other people's money. When is "Highpockets" Obama going to catch on to that?
That eventuality occurred long ago. Facts sometimes require a long time to pass before they become accepted by the masses. Money is used as a facade to represent wealth for those who don't understand that it is little more than a tool by which wealth is acquired. Socialism, like all other forms of government, including communism does not result in a classless society, but like all the others results in a ruling and ruled class, where the ruled are more or less equal as made necessary in perpetuating and maintaining the power of the ruling class. Government deflects attention from itself by directing it to groups within the society that would likely be more prosperous and reduce the equality provided by and maintained by the government actions upon the society. Democracy plays a large part as it allows the appearance of benevolence on the part of the government to be recognized by a simple majority who provides the government with the support necessary to retain power.
If these moneyed leftists really cared about the working class, they'd start a business that paid workers better than most other businesses.
Most the money being spent by Obama isn't for education, building roads, or healthcare. Most of its being spent to subsidize corporations and contractors, which doesn't set him apart from Bush, Clinton, or Reagan.
My argument though is that Socialism isn't really even a form of government. Its a hypothetical in which workers own the means of production, which could actually be best achieved through worker self ownership without being beholden to government officials or capital investors. Governments that call their selves socialist or capitalist really operate off of an advanced form of feudalism but defend their own existence through different ideological facades. The form of democracy the elites front is also a false democracy, because they tightly limit the choices. What you vote for each cycle is a gang of tyrants with a term limit. True democracy functions better on a smaller scale. We get to choose who will run our lives between two choices set up for us, but we don't get to choose how to run our own lives. Workplace democracy, like what the Mondragon Corporation or Kibutzims practice are true democracy and true socialism because people are actually making real decisions that matter.
I hate all the fuckers that didn't help me out when I was traveling across the country! =-) It is such a pain in the ass hitchhiking since 9/11. It seemed like no one was intuitive enough to clearly identify that I was a good guy!
Gentrification is happening all over, and not just in cities. Drive on up to Max Yasgurs Farm in Bethel, NY. You will find lots of "gentelemen's farms" and lots of fencing and signs to ward away hippie campers.
There goes the means of production again. If I own the means of production does that mean I can take an 8 hour nap during my shift? I wouldn't have a boss would I?
pretty much all liberal/social democrat/reformist/welfare-state types are pathetic nobodies acting as useful idiots (or conscious tools) for capitalism. Parliamentary government, unionism and individual welfare (i.e., vote mongering) are just Fascism with a left-wing smile. Bismark votes for social security, and so can you!
Look, more stupidity in a thread full of stupid. You've got a high bar to jump, to compare with the last 19 pages of stupid here. A few lines ain't a'gunna cut it.
Looks like they got that covered too, $85 billion per month, equates to a rate of about $1 trillion per year. We now live in an era where money actually does grow on trees, and instead of being backed by gold and silver, which do have true intrinsic values and exist in relatively finite quantity, the paper currencies of the Nations of the world are backed by the labor and production of the people under the control of their governments.
Gold and silver have very little intrinsic value. They are useful in industry. But they are only needed in tiny amounts. The fact that people like wearing sparkly stuff drives the prices up, but it's STILL cheap to use gold in normal electronic applications. Paper is useful in industry too. There is basically nothing more inherently valuable about a currency backed by gold than paper. What makes a currency worth something is the faith that it's holders put in it. The fact is, no depression is so bad that you can eat gold. In fact, the worse it gets, the less useful gold is. Why? Because your neighbor can't eat gold, either. Currency devaluation will effect any substitute currency you use, when the shit hits the fan.
Need we any further proof our education system needs to taken out of the hands of government? ??? I think you owe BobaBounces an apology.
I explained something, and explained in resonable depth WHY that something is. You wrote three-ish lines, with absolutly no refutation of my argument, but some "I'm old and wise and you're silly, because I like gold despite having no use for it, just like those primitive fucks all throughout history" It's just something to tie a currency to. It's worth something because people think that it is. Realistically, it makes almost as much sense to tie gold currency to a paper backing. I'd just as soon have a currency backed in 10A automotive fuses. I'm always blowing those fuckers.
THIS??, is what you consider to be an explanation, explained in 'reasonable' depth? And you feel that assertions such as those above and those below are deserving of any form of refutation?
Well actually, yes. And you have somewhat-skill-fully diverted the argument to why you don't think you should take my argument seriously -- without actually addressing ANY PART of my argument. You're saying that my argument does not count, because you think it's so ridiculous that you don't have to explain why you don't have to explain why it's so ridiculous that you don't have to explain why you don't have to explain how....... Oh shit, individual broke space-time itself. You declare that I am wrong, but that because I'm wrong, you don't have to explain why it is so. Why are you afraid of me, and of what I have to say? Because you're clearly terrified, and on the run -- but you've been on the run for years of debate here, yet you keep coming back. I can't tell if you really think you're doing your cause good, by saying these things and never admitting defeat, or if you really simply cannot handle the shifts in point of view that it would require to adopt a sane worldview. I'll say it again: gold has value in dentistry, electronics, and as a heat/light reflector. That's it. Gold coins have no more intrinsic value than copper coins, or zinc coins, or steel coins. They're just a means of exchange. The means does not need to have any value, as long as you don't have a fed that keeps printing massive amounts of that means.
Need this assertion be addressed? Think about what you posted below. Think about what you are saying. If the Fed could produce gold and/or silver out of thin air, then it would, as you are attempting to argue, have no intrinsic value. Recognize also as fact that copper, zinc, and steel coins have some intrinsic value, although much less than gold or silver. Paper money, as has been proven more than once, can become absolutely worthless, and while it's true you cannot eat gold or silver, you will always be able to purchase something that IS edible with gold and silver.
A $100 bill has no value, really, unless parties using them buy into the myth. National deficits/debts can't matter unless enough folks buy into -that- myth.
I see nothing inherently negative about the word "hypocrite". I just wish that everyone who uses it felt the same way.
