If you change that to "people's perception of equality" I will agree 100% with it.

It adds cost to an already strained program. The more people reaching for money, the tighter the restrictions are going to be, the shorter benefits will be, because the program is going to cost more. I mean this is actually the cliche scenario that anti welfare people cry out in an effort to cut funding, people on welfare who don't need it to begin with who spend their actual money buying drugs.

Well I said theory, no theory is proven correct- hence why it's not fact. But I think Krista is just pissed about a lack of equality, it's nothing malicious.

I have a friend that does it, it is deeply frustrating. I love the girl though, so i'd never say anything to anyone who can make any difference.

So for you, when you look around, do you feel jealousy for those that have more then you?

If you do, do you not feel more for those who have more (I'm not sure if thats the way it works)...

If you look around at a room, and say half the people have more then you do... some dramatically more....

Do you go to one of those who have less then you or the same amount and find a way to make sure they aren't getting more help then you?

    Do you even consider it?

I wouldn't... if for some reason I felt that someone who had dramatically more then me was screwing the system out of a few extra bucks, yes it would bother me... no I wouldn't report them, I'd tell them I didn't think they should be doing it...

If it was someone who was close to my own level (financially speaking) I would leave them alone as even if they were getting double what I make in a week, it still isnt enough to pay for the conventional life that people are brought up to beleive is the only way.

    But hey... thats just me...

I know people who are collecting disability pension and working full time for cash...I know people on welfare who are living with people (boyfriend) who make over $100000/year...I know people who go to the foodbank and dont need to..I know people who work the minimum days required and then get their boss friend to lay them off so they can go on EI and then collect double by working for cash somewhere else

do I think they are abusing the system?..yes

have I or will I ever report any of them?...NO

kista...to answer your question...yes...they absolutely check your sin[social insurance]....they also check your bank statements and make you explain each and every deposit of money...if she puts 100 dollars in her account, welfare will ask her why she didnt declare it in her monthly income statement...you evem have to declare money you borrow and money you win...revenue canada will catch her if she gets paid over the table...it is guarenteed

This whole thread is a fraud. You were never going to report her, there was no ethical dilemma going on in your mind. You want us join you in bitching about how bad she is to gratify your own ego, in the smug satisfaction that you are better than her. The fact you've said 100 times "I'm not going to report her, I'm a good friend" just reinforces how much you want to feel good about yourself.

    Truth.

    Rivalry among whores.

You got her into stripping, if I remember right. Her position got gradually worse, until now she's not worth shit to anyone except her welfare pimp, she's stripping and her boyfriend is being paid (If we are to believe the most recent change to your story, before you said she gave him the money) and she's being paid from it. That's prostitution and pimping. But you say her situation is fine, just because she smokes enough weed to get through it. You basically sold someone you call a friend into sex slavery and then flip shit on the internet when you think she's unfair about getting welfare. You didn't make a thread to talk about snitching(Or so you now say), you just wanted to say that it's unfair, which we can all see, for the reasons I listed right above this sentence.

Oh, and you still want to brag that you're a better whore than her, and can make 2-2.5x more without extra help

tl;dr: she's a sex slave, she can't stop stripping or welfare, because her boyfriend controls what she does, if she stops the stripping she's stuck on welfare, and if she stops the welfare, she's pretty well fucked because her boyfriend is apparently the one employed by the strip joint (or higher up pimp, or whatever). If she stops either, she loses both, she doesn't have much of a way out.

I'm honestly surprised that blackcat666's posting was overlooked. Some people are on welfare because the case workers felt that they actually need it. Not to mention that living on such little money isn't so great anyway. That's barely anything to live by... And really, who wouldn't opt to get unemployment if employment earns you the same amount? That's really more of a problem with wages than people, imo.

Like others have said so beautifully, if the money we used for the war on drugs and wars, were used to bail out things that mattered (MTA for example) and put that money to better use, then maybe this wouldn't be such an issue.

I wanted to know what a person would do in that situation and what they thought of it.

You didn't want to know, or else you would have taken everyones opinions, thanked them for contributing, and gone on your way. You proved that you just want to bitch by arguing so angrily, until even earlier on this very page, when you called your "friend" "low life scum", and then deleted the post... but not before chronictom quoted you at it.
