That sounds amazing. How do you make money and get food? Do the people live on the buses? I am in the Barrie area. What are the qualifications to join?

minimum age is 18 to travel threw the states, no addicts, must be able to work as a community. cant be a thief....

I've gotten to the point in my life where I'm just completely sick of everything. I feel like all of the systems in place to make me "happy" are killing me on the inside. So, I need some radical change. I've been looking at some different communes and such for a while, trying to figure out what exactly I'm going to do, when I stumbled upon your threads on this website. I'd love to talk to you more about the next bus that's leaving, I'm really interested. You guys seem like a perfect fit for me. Let me know, or if you'd rather communicate through email or something, it's up to you.

this is maybe some tough love for you to hear.; my family left my ass, im running behind on my mortgage, im missing payments for the first time since I got off the highway. and you want me to throw 500 bucks to a sister who hasnt paid donation,hasnt done...ANYTHING for tribe, and I havnt even spoke to in 5 years....

Im really not sure what to say to this, Im trying to be kind, but...what do you take me for or want from me? Id love to help out but I have to think about paying child support and taking care of my own children as my first priority....

I think I posted in the other thread but I figured I should post again because I'm actually serious this time. My name is Arthur and I'm 20 years old. I'm planning on starting my journey around the world next year. I'm hoping to eventually hitchhike across the entire world but I'll settle for the US and Canada for now. If you're willing to have me, I'd love to travel with you guys for however long you'll let me. I'm willing to offer you whatever money I'll have at that time and I'll do whatever I can to earn my keep. I can't say I have any skills that you would find particularly useful but I have a good sense of humor so I could, at the very least, provide you with some entertainment.

I'm not sure where you will be in a year but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask in advance especially since you're not online every day. I feel like I'm ranting now so I'll end this post here.

 

I notice the last posts for The Highway Child and The Highway Child in Canada were in September. Is the tribe defunct, or what?

 

dead is a strong word, tribe will always exist. the extent that I personally play is at least for now, EXTREMELY minimal.

too much chaos in my personal life with my seperated wife to risk involving myself...the last few attempts I had at organising crews for buses ended with a bunch of idiots who gave up as soon as it looked like work was involved, it takes a while to get a bus on the road, at one time it was my whole life.....

these days I cant commit the time.

given the right circomstances Ill consider putting more buses out there, but at this point, I have to give my own life some focus too many years my focus was on tribe and not my family, now I lost my family and I have to re center before focusing on anything else.

but there still are buses and people who were tribe or on buses still are...

just way less organised then ever before

i have a veggie shorty bus, working on the conversion to RV, and am picking up a veggie van this week to outfit as a work vehicle for the prospecting gig we discussed..

still in touch with the commune starting in VA, with tangible involvement.

the fact that you're re-focusing doesn't mean tribe is dead.. just means your tribe has a new center..

it's tough enough serving one love... family is the first, & that's really what tribe is for.. bringing love & compassion & peace into the world...

the strongest place to do that is with the folks whom depend upon you most..

i actually envy you...

you have a wonderfull place & beautifull kids..
hell.. just the family is all it takes...

there is nothing worse than loneliness, & believe me...

in comparison to what you have?

we just added a VW bus the thc mayflower captained by indiana joahna out of missuri. I think hes looking for cew for this summer...

 

I'm Canada based and I would have loved to have done something like this. I'm sorry that it looks like I missed the bus, so to speak. Out of curiousity, do you have an e-mail address I could reach you at? I've considered converting over a school bus like this at some point in my life and would like to see what input you might be able to give me.

If you ever start doing this up again, I'd love to hitch a ride during the summer sometime, that said I'm way out east.

 

where are you in the east coast, as I said earlier on this page, the trobe is not dead buses still exist. Im just not as involved as I previously was. though I just captained a bus in missurri the THC mayflower.
