Abusing welfare... yes or no?

If you don't get a job in less than about 6 months, assuming you had something saved up before hand, and you don't have a family and/or other support network who can and will help take care of you, you're fucked, in the US.

If you can't find and settle for a job swamping out mcdonalds bathrooms in 3 months, you don't deserve to eat, obviously.

 

Some states with the highest unemployment rates actually have unemployment benefits going to 99 weeks, but in normal economic times 6 months is the norm you can collect it.

 

Maybe someone your age with minimal years of experience. Try doing it when your my age with 15 years management experience.
You know how many fucking times I've heard "your overqualified" "we can't pay what your experience is worth" and similar shit.
Even when I was perfectly clear that minimum wage is fine, there is still reluctance to hire experienced workers into low skill jobs.
It sucks!

 

You can always put on an old hoodie under a carhart jacket, torn jeans, and find a shopping cart, if that would help

She couldnt possibly get more welfare than anyone else.. If she does get more cash its because she has a kid listed: Able body shes entitled to food stamps, and a single persons cash/ She could only get cash should she have medical -mental health - but the cash she gets will not be any more than anyone else. Single in my state is $202.50 a month/ $151.00 food stamps..

what her BF is entitled to is not her business.

I think you're missing my point, let me combine what me and others have said in one nice little bundle:

You just seem jealous of your stripper friend being on welfare. So what if she makes money, the works as a mentally abused and tethered stripper and lives with a boyfriend who controls all of her money, if he is indeed a boyfriend and not a pimp, with how you described him. She works full time at a shitty job, and has enough money to smoke marijuana because the government is paying for her basic needs. Meanwhile, all the money that the government is not using to fund her drug habits and pimp are being used to kill innocent people and commit a massive number of other injustices, but the only thing that YOU see as wrong is paying for pot. Get on welfare yourself, or quit bitching. How did you decide that her life is good, and that she doesn't deserve this? How do you quantify deserving welfare, not sleeping on benches and jealously guarding your shopping cart with a screwdriver? If welfare knows about her situation and she's still on welfare, she's obviously not abusing the system, the system has decided that she gets welfare, it's really fuckin' simple. They know she has a job, a live-in boyfriend, and they decided to pay her bills. Do you think they don't see that she could technically survive without it? Well no shit they do. Do you think they don't see more of her situation than you do? Well they obviously see that too.... I mean, the whole forum of strangers can....

Forgot to mention.. Welfare doesnt know she works!

 

They know everything about her, but the fact that she works? how does she hide the fact that she's working, is the system anything like the US? here if you hold a job, they can see it...

And quite frankly, I can't see stripping off the records and under the table to allow for welfare to be any better than having no job.

And she doesn't love her boyfriend, in any kind of healthy way, I'm rather certain.

You don't know everything about her. Maybe she's mentally ill and is getting outpatient treatment? Maybe she has cancer, instead? Maybe she was raped? Listen, there are a lot of things about a persons personal life that no one knows anything about. Nor should they. I don't think you know everything about her health.

Nothing. Because there are a lot of details that I don't have. Nor should I.
If she has cancer, would you prefer she wear a placard saying "I HAVE CANCER" on it? Maybe she was raped and is getting outpatient help? Would you want her to wear a placard on her chest saying "I was raped and I am now getting treatment"?

You say welfare abuse. Is that any different than the abuse of sticking one's nose where it doesn't belong? Are you like this newly appointed income enforcer for the county or the state? I'm confused.

If she's such a good friend, respect her privacy. Don't judge her based on what little you know. Accept her as your friend no matter what.

I used to have a friend that was nosy. Not as nosy as you, but close. Used to. Ain't seen her in years now. I just plain washed my hands of her and said "see ya!" I won't keep a friend that cannot respect me as much as I respect them.

morning kista...dont know how i missed that she is working full time...yes..if she works anything more than part time she is committing fraud..but...seriously...walk away and never mention it to her ever because if someone else rats on her she might think it was you...its likely the boyfriend that is the more hardcore deadbeat

 

does the welfare always need be reviewed there?... I mean.. i dont know if Im more concerned about welfare abuse as I am to disability abuse here.. Cause they need to review case every year for welfare ..
I know a few people getting disability , not a thing wrong with them. turn their whole check over to the crack man...

 

if you dont have a medical reason every person is reviewed several times a year...some...every month
