Anyone think it is impossible to tell what type of weed you have by taste, appearanc

I dont believe anyone who says they can tell what type of weed they are smoking from the taste. I also don't think it's possible to think tell what type it is from appearance. I think it's a matter of opinion. I know some trees taste better then others, but I don't think the flavor is too heavy on our taste buds. There are soooo many different names of different types of weed. I have a good friend who thinks the exact opposite. It's kind of funny. But at the same time I have a hard a reallly hard time differentiating what type of high I have. Head/ Body.

and do you mean taste as in the taste of the smoke or the taste of the plant?

strain types are kinda based on location, and if a person has had multiple types, there definitely is a way to distinguish types. theres a reason why they offer different types of weed in amsterdam coffee shops and medical dispensaries.

 

I mean taste of the smoke. And I meant to say smell. I just think there are sooo many different types to have that type of memory to tell from any of the ways listed previously. I dont think our senses are that strong, realistically.

no but seriously, i think the senses are more powerful than we think, we just crowd our mind with crap. plus the more time and experience you spend with anything, the more you learn about it.

 

The reason they offer different types? Because there are different types.

You can tell between a 100% sativa strain vs a 100% indica strain(i can anyway). I am sure there are people who can tell the difference, but it would come from years of lengthy experience with many strains.

 

Yeah and that's another thing, my very same friend told me that it's never 100% sativa or indica.

 

exactly. different strains do slightly different things at different strengths with different tastes and smells.

Yes this is true. You will probably not find either unless your grow them.

Most pure sativa strains(hazes) have been cross bred with indicas because sativas are notoriously harder to grow.

But a predominant sativa strain is noticeably different then a predominantly indica strain.

 

Thanks for the info. I can wrap my head around that a little better now. Although I don't know if i'll ever be able to actually try a 100% indica or a 100% sativa.

 

theoretically the best strain is a hybrid of the 2. one the reasons is, like many people: a pure sativa high may be to racy for someone, and a pure indica may knock you on your ass couch lock..

once you have seen how many plants perform, you go from there and can get an idea to go on. You can also tell buy using seed charts and seedling stage chart(only in places that keep these on file/ they are out there..

you would be surprised the plant you may get from the ditch weed bags you have received. A bag seed grown under the correct conditions and or better, a professional grower could grow a plant from street weed and have the connoisseur completely baffled of location and origin.. FACT.

 

So in some areas you could grow some pretty good tree from a seed that came with a bag of schwag? The soil/ temperature really makes that much of a difference? Pretty sick

 

yes cause the bud you may have, It could easy be a year old or more from the street.. It takes time for harvest in meixico, to reach the streets of new york (seeds on the other hand dont degrade like the marijuana itself..
When someone bitches about getting alot of seed in their bag weed. Then they just dont see the future very well tossing them in the trash...
600+ seed from a bag weed via mex, planted correctly in a upstate new york farm, would bring in 3x's the cash or more per crop..
your grow medium makes all the difference and curing teks..
You wouldnt have the same looking buds. unless you ran your farm over with a steam roller. The bud you now have are not compressed, fresh and grown to your liking.. Continue:sunny:

 

Also when you are growing your own you will not allow males to pollenate the females(unless your trying to make your own hybrid), thus you will end up with no seeds and the plants use more energy on flower production rather than seed production. There is a term for this but it escapes me at them moment. You can grow some dank shit from brick weed. But your better off buying some fem. seeds that are made for imdoors, keeping a couple mothers and take clones.

The term for this is sensimilla.

 

a generalisation that i have read...

sativas are less berry like and more fluffy
sativas generally have a citrus like smell

indicas are more berry like
indicas tend to smell more skunkish

 

Are you saying that the upstate New York is one of the best areas and climates for growing?.. Never knew that.

I only ask because I was born in PA but got pretty much bammer...

 

nawz. Was just giving a general long distance analogy to and from..

But The truth is say you live in Pennsylvania , your more likely to get commercial cannabis marijauna that has been grown in the state of Ohio the year before..

climate wise New York wouldnt be much different than British Columbia.. but anywhere will do growing Cannabis..

I live in Pa, btw.. Good growing country if the weather cooperates too.

 

Oh I see. Yeah I was happy when I got "okay" stuff there. It was really different going back home from Cali, when it comes to trees anyway. I may move back there one day, maybe you could teach me the trick of the trade. haha jk but learning how to become a good grower does seem awesome to me.

 

Smell, taste, the high, thickness of smoke, how it expands in your lungs, how it breaks up, etc, its all different. I mean I have some bud right now called S.A.G.E. n Sour that smells real sweet and spicy. When exhale when smoking this stuff, it makes your taste buds tingle. The I have the stuff called Blue Cheese, dark green buds with hints of purple all over it. The shit smells like a blueberry muffin, and I'm not trying to exaggerate at all.

 

most people who say the specigic strain just by smelling are liars. I knew one person who had done that but he had been heavily addicted to marijuana for quite a while and had smoked and insane amount. i can tell indica from sativa and i can tell things like purple kush based on the color but thats about it

 

when you can see a noticeable amount of trichomes.
