hehe... I wasn't going to! I would be this plant, called Iliamna... it is a rare shubby flower related to Hibiscus and I love love love it
I think spiders are like dogs. There are big ones, and little ones. There are cute ones, and ugly ones. Some are nice, and some are dangerous. They're not a pest, they serve a function in nature. If one gets into your house, it's just hungry or cold, etc. They don't know any better. Try to capture it and set it free if you can. But if it's highly venomous, like black widows and such, then kill it. Those kind can be deadly to kids and elderly people. The other day at work I was sitting in my truck eating lunch and listening to the radio when I saw a little spider building a web on my side mirror. I have electric mirrors so I moved the mirror until his web broke (a couple of times). I was hoping he would go away because I knew it would be bad for him once I got on the freeway after work. But the little shit just kept repairing it instead. I wondered how much he needed to eat to make so much silk. He was so small that I didn't want him to waste any more, so I ripped his whole web down. He said fuck it and jumped into the wind. It's so cool how those little ones can fly around on a breeze like they do. I like jumping spiders the most. One landed on my arm one time and was just standing there looking at me. I put my finger near him and he turned toward it, real fast like. I think they see really well. When I got too close he jumped off (boing). lol
I'm sure some spiders are nice, but you must remember that phobias are irrational fears and just saying to oneself, 'oh, it isn't poisonous so I will just let it sleep on my pillow with me' doesn't really do anything... I am equally afraid of tiny spiders and giant spiders... they are all horrifying to me. Everyone has different fears, lots of people are afraid of snakes and snakes do not bother me at all. There are rattlesnakes everywhere and I always encounter them at work but I'm not afraid of them even though they are poisonous. This is the mysterious nature of phobias.
I've heard that an average person swallows a few spiders during a lifetime during sleep. I guess there is an advantage to large spiders, as you probably can't swallow those during sleep. .
Some people say jumping spiders are aggressive, but I don't know. They're just made to jump, so that's what they do. .
haha, I usually try to get em on a piece of paper so I can fling em out the door. I saw one rappelling from the ceiling in the living room one night... well, it was still daytime, nightfall, dusk whatever you wanna call it. I got a sheet of paper and tried to get rid of it without harming it, but instead of it grabbing the piece of paper, it just kind of rolled across it and onto my hand! I freaked, shook my hand and felt it bounce off my pant leg and onto the couch (where I was trying to get it away from). So the couch being brown and the spider being brown I had to get a flashlight and search for the little bugger. I think I ended up smashing it tho... I didn't know it was the god of pottery and sunshine! Great... now I'm gonna get struck by lightning... AGAIN! Oh ghad... that spider picture 4 posts up from me just freaked me OUT! I got the brain wiggles... LOL!
Snakes you need to know where they hang out. I'm wary of old hollowed out logs. Sometimes snakes make their home in there. Just sitting on one of those fallen logs can get you bitten, even more so if the snake is nesting in there. .
People here are terrified of rattlesnakes, but I even stepped on one once when it was hiding in the grass and it didn't attack at all, it just slithered away. I think they get a bad rap. Oh man, terrapin, that story freaked me out! I would just take them out the door, but I am too afraid to come in close contact with them like that and also, they always immediately crawl back in to the house (or motorhome in my case).
Snakes can feel the vibration of you walking. Usually they move out of the way. I come close to stepping on them sometimes when I'm walking and jogging in grass. It's sometimes humorous when you are running and when you and the snake see each other and clumsily trying to avoid each other. Most snake bites happen at night and on the ankles and feet. Difficult to see them at night. .
Since there are only two spiders around here that you have to be scared of (black widows and brown recluses), I'm not terribly scared of them. During the spring and summer months we normally have a few in random corners around the house, but I love them, they're the best kind of fly control. And the bathroom always has daddy longlegs, but the cats always eat them. But I don't blame you for freaking out over them being in your bed, uuuugggghhh, I have no problems with spiders until they decide that they need to explore me or my sleeping area. That's the only place I'll straight up murder a bitch. Except the brown recluses and black widows, those bitches gotta die right away. What I'm really scared of? Motherfucking scorpions.
Oh yeah, scorpions are super unpleasant. When I lived in Oregon the house was always full of scorpions. It was always a little sketchy walking around at night, worrying about stepping on one. I do love that my cat eats spiders, but she isn't allowed in my bedroom so the spiders know that they are safe there
