my teacher sucks.....

Ok, so I didn't really get busted! or anything- but heres what happened today at my college. So, I admit that probably about 2 times a week- I do show up to my class stoned out of my mind. So, after class is over, this teacher walks up to me while I'm walking outside to my car and he stops me. He's like "Hey, I'd appreciate it if for my next classes you wouldn't show up stoned and show me a little more respect as your teacher" or something and he walked away. I was just kind of like "Ok, sure." and went about my business. So my question is: do i have to listen to this guy?? I mean, its my body, and my time, if I wanna puff a few joints before a class, why the hell does he care about that? I'm about to show up to ALL of his classes stoned from now on just to piss him off. Its not like my grades suffer from it- I'm doing pretty well in this class. Anyways, what would you guys do about this if this happened to you?

 

Do you do anything that can be considered "disrespectful" while you're in class? He may just be blaming this on the fact that you're stoned. If not, it's not really his concern.

anyways, unless you reek of weed, are noticeably saying stoner-like comments, or somehow disrupting the class then it shouldnt be his concern. BUT it would most likely be in his power to actually do something about it since one of his students is "intoxicated" in class (in the eyes of the college). i would still argue your case if it got that far (about getting good grades) or just straight-up deny it. he wouldnt be able to prove it anyway.

there were a couple of times that a professor called me out for being high. he didnt actually come out and SAY it, but i was stoned and half spacing out and half thinking about our discussion and he noticed. it was a crazy class though - Theories of Immortality - the highest level (pun intended) of a class you could take at the university. i mean, i HAD to be stoned for that sometimes... but after a while, i really felt best being sober while in class. i just saved it for aftewards

 

are you paying for the class? did you disrupt it in any way? if not, fuck what the teacher says.

You should listen to him, it's probably not the fact that you're smoking weed, it's probably just about showing him respect. Yes it is your body with which you can do what you want, but it's his class.

 

If you're stoned enough that your teacher feels the need to comment on it you could just show up sober. If you were a teacher you wouldn't want people showing up blazed out their eyeballs either.

 

Well- you and a few of the other responses were right on but I suspect it isn't what the OP was looking for. Judging by the forum chosen he was most likely expecting responses akin to:

What happens inside his classroom is most certainly his concern- particularly things that he sees as potential barriers to his teachings hitting their intended mark. A student showing up clearly stoned might suggest to him that the subject matter isn't being taken all that seriously. If the professor can see it then so can the other students... and he is undoubtedly aware of that as well.

As for me, I have a difficult time not letting my mind wander when stoned so if I were taking classes I'd most certainly at very least wait until my classes were done for the day before I were to partake. If he is showing concern for your ability to make good on the money spent on your education then he most certainly does not suck.... at least he approached you privately and didn't draw attention to your state in the classroom.

 

You reek of marijuana. Stop smoking before class or at least spray some Febreeze on yourself for the sake of your classmates and professor.

showing up stoned everyday will only hurt yourself....unless you work better stoned (which is highly unlikely)

I agree with pretty much everyone else. It annoys me when I go to a class and the people in there are either high or acting like dumbasses. It really is distracting. Just smoke on your own time after school or some shit.

Your teacher probably doesn't even hate stoners. I know where I go to school if a teacher thinks you smoke, the school will search your locker, car, whatever. If you haven't been searched or anything, then your teacher was probably cool enough not to tell the administration.

This reminds me of this stoner substitute teacher from my high school. She was the best. She'd sit with you and talk about whatever all class long. I even went over to her house with some friends one summer and she grows her own shit. She offered to smoke with us, but our parents would've smelled the smoke on us when we got back and I was a sophomore at the time and my friends were seniors who (hypocritically) said I was too young to smoke. Lol

 

the rules at college are little bit different than the rules at high school. professors aren't going to "tell the administration" on you and there is no locker to be searched.

you're there on your own money, you do what you want. if the OP doesn't have anything on him while in class there's absolutely nothing this professor can do, except maybe grade him a little more harshly or something passive aggressive like that.

Never bite the hand that feeds. This teacher could have been a lot worse, he's shown you a little respect by not reporting it, you should show him the same amount by saving this stuff until after class. Remember, he is in a position of responsibility, and cannabis is illegal

AND stoned people in the class room, from my experience, are really annoying.

 

I dont understand how he could even tell you were stoned unless you just reeked, in which case just make sure you air out a little before going in class. Or unless you sit there and make retarded comments, but I'm assuming a college student would not do that.

I mean, I go to class stoned all the time, but if a professor asks me to stop, I totally would... Here they can have you pulled out for a drug test if a teacher feels like it, and your grants and everything are riding on passing it.... So it's a bad idea to be disrespectful of him. It's his class, HIS house, you can go anywhere else stoned, but if he's confronting you on it you're obviously not the kind of person who smokes and then just does what they need to, you're being a disturbance, obvious, stinking up the room, etc. It's likely that the professor has had complaints from other students about you.

Grow up. If you want to go to class stoned, go take a toke in a ventilated area, brush your teeth, take a quick shower, and put on some fresh clothes. You'll also feel a lot less obvious and free to have a good time and enjoy your high, without having any doubts that you could be in legal jepardy.

*edit* also, if he or someone else can tell and you DON'T smell strongly of weed (which I'm assuming you do, since you're talking about smoking joints before his class, best way to smell like bud) then it's because you're making an asshole of yourself, and he's going to kick you the fuck out or drop your ass from his class. He does have those powers, and hopefully will use them. He was already nice, most of my professors, if they where going to say that, would just address you in front of the whole class at the beginning of class, and then continue with class.

 

when I was in jazz band (in college... PSEO) someone showed up to the final concert high, the professor knew (I mean fuck, he´s a jazz player.) didn´t let him play in the concert, and failed him.

It´s not like he hated the guy, he was actually a really good sax player, always came to class prepared, and never was disrespectful.

The professor wasn´t anti drugs or anything either, he would tell his stoned stories all the time in class, and often brought up the several bongs he owned.


When you're in college, the professor is god. They can find the dumbest reasons to fail you if they don´t like you. (or even if they do like you, they can be pretty harsh)

gotta assume this was your first semester, because only someone in their first semester would be this stupid. Grow the fuck up.
