my roomate and i have done lots of research on lsd and i have tried it and had one of the best times of my life. my roomate on the other hand is still skeptical, he's having a hard time sorting through the myth and facts about lsd. also he has a cousin that was very smart and active until he tried a drug now he is completely crazy, he thinks he's a machine that can communicate with other machines. the family obviously is very touchy about the subject so he doesn't feel comfortable asking what drug his cousin took. my roomate and i have done dmt as well but he never really thought about his cousin until he read about lsd possibly unlocking some types of mental disorders. what should he do?

I highly doubt that lsd was the cause of your friends cousin going off the deep end. No offense intended, because that is a real shame :( but since you have done lots or research and dropped some tabs yourself, you would see that there are really not a ton of dangers, surprisingly, with LSD. There are not even any recorded deaths induced strickly from lsd or overdose. As long as you dont mix it with other drugs of any kind then there isnt much harm that can come about.
Also, psychadelics play off of someones emotions. So if your friend is generally carefree and pretty chill then he should have no worries. If he is someone who gets agitated easily and cant tolerate stress well then i would suggest not using any psychs. Or at least start off with shrooms or salvia divinorum that lasts half as long. Then he can gage what a trip and the visuals will be like when on something stronger, but not have to deal with tripping for possibly 12 hours.
In all honesty I think your friend has read WAY TOO MUCH into the back story of lsd. Just about everything on this planet can be toxic or lead to overdose if taken in copuous amounts. If you respect the drug and be smart about usage then that alone cuts down greatly on the negative effects and dangers. Sadly though, since your friend has educated himself so much on all of these 'horror stories' it may be hard for him to even have a really good trip since those stories will be in the back of his mind and looming over him.
Good luck on whatever route you choose.

i dont see a risk whatsoever.

out of how many people have dropped acid, how many people come out of a trip with schizophrenia? it is such a minuscule ratio i find it a bit ridiculous to be concerned about it. my friend has had schizophrenia since he was little and grew out of it and the only time it comes out in him is when hes really drunk. hes happy as a flower in spring when hes frying (tripping on acid).

and wtf? you two have done dmt and you're afraid of acid? ummm makes me kinda doubt you've researched lsd or dmt much. that, or youre looking at the wrong research. or youre looking at myths, and there are more myths for acid than dmt mainly because its much more popular. dmt is a much more potent and stronger psychedelic.

in addition, sanity is a bit overrated. i just find it funny you think its the end of the world for his cousin because he thinks he relates to machines.

if hes truly afraid, then he shouldnt do it yet though, drop a tab or two when youre ready, it provides a much better trip. maybe you should drop a tab or two while he tripsits you so he'll feel more comfortable about it. personal experience can provide much more information than the internet. in most situations :D

tell him to stop worrying and drop that shit.

You've done dmt? lmfao. Go eat ten hits of the strongest stuff you can find dude. It won't even compare. Acid is so much more gentle and less intense than those cosmic tryptamines, and much "funner" and more playful and happy.

If there's a history of family mental illness I'd always be wary about doing any psychedelic.

haha i know dmt is on a whole other level, and he and i both did that. the main reason my roomate was worrying was that we hadn't found anything that said dmt can cause you to go crazy, whereas some places say acid does. he was with me when i did my first tab, and i'll probably do two next time. thanks for the info guys i'll let him know and hopefully he'll feel better.

I don't think you should convince/force your friend to do anythhing.
It's likely they will say: "Fuck it, i'll try it once or twice".
    That's fine.
I do think you need to take it dozens of times for anything serious to occur if it ever to were.

Taking anything with the rep' of lsd is worthy of some debate...

try to get through to him. make him believe that no matter what you are always there for him. also tell him that risking everything for that "thrill" is simply not worth it.
