Well as long as they apply their policy fairly. It's not like they took money from Swift Boat Liars for Bush or anything. Oh wait....
Geez, it seems the hatemongers are losing their grip on logical consistency entirely by claiming the above is any indication of liberal bias. In point of fact denial of a message of inclusion and doing so on the basis of refusing to highlight the bigotry of "other groups" and to enhance the debate against the activities of the government (solidly in the grasp of rabid right wing fundy nutcases) is evidence of clear extreme RIGHT-WING bias in full keeping with the reality of corporate owned media. If it were truly "liberal" then it would have been the Swift Boat Liars whose ads were denied airtime, not a message of acceptance and tolerance as indicated above.
I think that title was meant as scarcasim. I know your an american, lick, but people living outside the US (i guess except maybe canada) don't seem to understand America's love of scarcasim, and therefore have pretty unpracticed scarcasim detectors... I see it all over the boards here, its kinda funny really. Of course that's all assuming that Stilanas lives in the US
I appreciate sarcasm Sera, and im quite familiar with the much more developed sense of sarcasm that actually exists outside the US. Given the protracted attempt of our right wing to cry "liberal bias" at every report of corruption within their own ranks and from their preferred leaders this title merely suggests more of the same that we've been hearing ad infinitum for decades in the US. Apologies to Stalinas if he did in fact intend it as sarcasm, but it has become a veritable mantra that one responds to instinctively nowadays.
That reminds me of a story my high school drama teacher told me one time about a person she went to school with whose native language was not english, I think it was an asian language. He mentioned something about having to take a high level math course with a terrible professor. My drama teacher said "Oh I bet that sounds fun" and it flew completly over his head. Apparently, not every language has a capacity for sarcasm and thus it was an alien concept to him. "How could you really mean the opposite of what you are saying?"
I say show the ad. Liberal churches like the UCC that have jettisoned the authority of biblical teaching will continue to wane into irrelevance, with or without the help of TV ads.
yes, we certainly can't have our churches promoting tolerance now can we. That would be just tooo much. We all know that hate and intolerance is better for the people...
Thanks for posting a link to the ad, I was curious what it was. It's perfectly harmless, these stations should be ashamed of themselves.
www.tolerance.org had a write-up on this. i know there are members of my family that would upset by such a message, but probably couldn't tell you why (because then they would have admit their own issues). there are a lot of people out there ready to discriminate and spread messages of hate, sometimes, some people have to stand up against it and those people often take a bit of a beating for it.
The ad is shallow and manipulative, equating moral opposition to homosexual conduct with racism. (I daresay it's a bigoted smear against orthodox Christianity.) I've never known a church to turn away homosexuals at the door; however, homosexuals who enter should be prepared to deal honestly with clear biblical teaching on human sexuality. If they don't like it, they should have the integrity to find another religion.
