I was disappointed by the Colbert report last night. Nothing was said against Assange as it relates to what he does, provide access to leaked classified knowledge but they totally fueled the idea that he is undoubtedly guilty of the rape, and they took his lawyer's words WAY out of context. They made it a joke and basically said that Assange did rape two women and his lawyer was trying to pass it off as "surprise sex" I was entirely angered by Colbert and his writers for such ignorance and manipulation. Did they themselves not read all the information about the situation, IN context. Or was it possibly something written by a woman (likely to be a liberal feminist writing for Colbert) that believes in justice for everyone claiming to be raped.
UPDATE: Anonymous has a new poster and strategy now... I like this idea and I love the way Anonymous comes up with these tactics. Of course getting ppl to post "summaries" is difficult, and I should know...
I don't like his show or Stewart's for two reasons; they make jokes about issues that should be taken seriously, and neither of them are that funny. The issues they joke about shouldn't be laughed at. It's so easy now for people to be upset by some shitty issue, laugh it off, feel better, then go about life again. They just laugh it off and forget about it. People should instead get pissed off, angry and fight to change things. Anger doesn't fix everything, but it sure as hell makes a bigger difference than laughing shit off and letting it slide.
If I post summaries of these leaks on the "popular" and "featured" youtube videos, will anyone join me? What I'll do is write the summary in the "comments" section of the video page then post the video here. Others can then post summaries on all the same popular videos that way more people will see it.
Well you'll be joining with dozens of Anonymous followers so I doubt you'll be alone... I can't even get ppl to post a summary with a news story... It's VERY IMPORTANT that people post up stories with summaries in THEIR OWN WORDS, otherwise the articles will never draw any attention on the Net. If you just copy & paste shit from other sites, it's a waste unless you add some UNIQUE CONTENT of your own. Remember that!
UPDATE: Ron Paul Defends Wikileaks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDp1izlMQT0&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - "Some Questions To Consider" Ron Paul Defends WikiLeaks "Killing The Messenger For Bad News" Story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/10/ron-paul-wikileaks-defense_n_795014.html Here's the transcript of Paul's remarks.
Yeah there are many that don't even know what is going on with the news at all. They know more about film stars and what is the most popular item this christmas then to what their government and news media is up to. And I feel that along with the many that just succumb to whatever our news media brings them, the ones that do not pay attention, do infact go along with what ever the mainstream media tells them when they do happen to see it. Which I bet is mostly via Comcast.net, Verizon.net and MSNBC since those are the home pages that are defaulted on the computer most of the time for when they want to go browse the Internet ;/ There seems to be solace in the younger generation with this stuff, however most of them are off into MMORPG's, games and the daily work grind mentality :X Its the everyday conditioning to getting up, working then sleep grind that everyone goes through I think is a good contributer to how and why nothing is really going on here. But with this case on assange is one of the first that all major mainstream news to the public has been condemning in nature and its amazing how many you can now see go along with it. Its quite sad, and of course gives mainstream news more angles to attack the media and people that are not going with this ideal, Such as Ron Paul and many others who are trying to voice against what the media is doing... With this I actually do feel the media can actually control our government. a good example reading up on is Vietnam and the media covering the casualties and coverage day to day of the war.. Which incited Peace movements to end it. Nowadays you cannot even research causalities of this "Terror" war currently going on, and with all this other junk going on, they easily delude as if the war is even going on ~ And I've also learned none of it has to even make sense. The Tax cuts fox is going on about blatantly have them saying the republicans are holding unemployment extension insurance and Middle Class Tax cuts, in order to have Estate Taxes removed and More tax cuts to include 1% of the populace which already owns 23% of the total USD cash on the market. all for a trickle down effect that was supposed to be fixing the unemployment rate in the public sector for years now and we have only seen it raise instead~ most notably from 9.6 to 9.8 in this past month.. I mean contradictions anyone ?!? The wake up call will not happen until all the shit hits the fan so to say~ However I do not believe we have seen the most America can do in terms of riots and anarchy yet. We are also equipped to the teeth so to say in firearms, To our governments disapprovement. http://www.opencongress.org/wiki/U.S._gun_control_legislation. Guns and ammo sales have been off the charts, especially last year when obama came into office. So I believe its a matter of how this all takes place, to see if everyone goes silently into the new custom chains that are being made for us.
Its sad that, that was stated in congress, and literally nothing was done ... and to further this insanity WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange 'to be charged with spying by the US'
Maybe I havent been looking in the right places, but has there even been a start to any riots or anarchy down there? Little localized protests that have a couple of hundred (or even a couple of thousand) people mean nothing... Especially when they last only an hour or two before everyone goes back home to watch tv. I want to think they wouldn't... but I don't see it happening... In fact, I can even see people bragging about how pretty their new chains are.
Not in a very long time, has anything other then peaceful movements taken place. Though That doesn't mean there has never been times and areas where the poverty has not been to excessive. The bronx is one such case, where with the poverty the crime, riots and everything just escalated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CESCSSIT49I"]YouTube - Chief Tony Bouza
Actually, peaceful is a better way to go in terms of what we need to happen. Not because I am against violence... But because in a contest of force... The PEOPLE will lose. Starting violent riots and protests, will just give the powers that be the reason they need to change it to a military situation where they strip all personal rights in the name of 'security'.
I agree on both posts, Even with peaceful Movements, the media will be on black out, to ensure no other movements take place. And Peaceful movements are the stronger ones, as long as they can hold their ground. Riots in most cases, would give them leway to remove the media blackout and create "news" on the violent situation to advocate marshal law and national intervention, making the people to look bad and the Government to look like its in the right.
Televising it would kill it as potential participants would rather stay at home to watch other people do their work for them.
This is why I actually have hope for Anon's actions and methods here... It doesn't require people to get off their ass to participate...
Me too- but if we do not participate in SOME way, then we can't claim any ownership in what transpires. If we allow hackers and cyber chaos to be the only substantive response against the terrorists who govern- either legislatively or by corporate decree then we must live with the consequences that will be the coming restrictions on our ability to search and post freely on the web after the establishment extinguishes what it will characterize as unlawful interference with the "right" of corporations like Mastercard and Visa to do business as they see fit. If they can localize what they will call a cancer and repress it severely enough they will effectively shut up the rest of us through fear. It is the laziness of the oppressed which is the oppressor's greatest weapon.
