is anything happening in ocala yet? i know it's pretty early but am heading to florida in a few days to spend a month there and figured as long as i'm in the neighborhood...
ill be headed to Ocala but not too early. From what i understand there are people there already. Winter holding for the warm weathered travelers
i live in ocklawaha just minites from where the gathering was held this year i have herd from fellow friends that there is a holding camp at shanti pond but im sorry i do not know where this is but they said that this is the correct name for it and its on maps
it's a helluva long link but it's the forest service link for shanty pond. if it doesn't work just goto the ocala n.f. website and plug in 'shanty pond' into their search window. it's just "...south of Salt Springs off SR 19..." but i haven't found it on the maps i have, altho salt springs is on them. chachi and i will probably take a drive up there later this week and i'll let y'all know what's happening there when we get back. http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/f...nal%20Forest%20-%20Shanty%20Pond%20Campground oh...i guess it's not so long after all...lol
will barry sackarow be signing the permit again this year, as he always does !!!!!!!! a consensus was reached among family at the 1981 washington nationals that no permits be signed, & yet ocala seems to be a permitted gathering, against the 81 consensus.... :sunny:
I haven't signed a permit for five years now, but thanks for the shout out. In fact, my life being what it is, I spend less and less time on the land as the years continue. Ocala is a permitted gathering because its councils and local family continue to want it to be so. If and when that changes, so will Ocala. Last year at Florida Family Council at Farles Prairie, more then 50 people expressed willingness to sign, if needed, which it wasn't. A new site is being scouted for 2011. The scouting for this site began 14 months ago and negotiations continue. I am not directly involved and those who are, take my advice far less often then makes me happy. So much for the stories of my minions acting in concert with my wishes... I'm sorry that the difficult, ongoing efforts by hard working, self sacrificing family does not meet with your approval. I'm sorrier that you blame it on me, when I'm doing far less then I should/could/might be. If you really have something important to say, you might try saying it at council, which is usually announced, among many other places, here on this board. Again thank for the shout out. Anyone telling you anything current about the Ocala Defense Fund IS trying to scam you. It has been inactive for a decade and is likely to remain so indefinitely... Someone needs a large supply of recycled aluminum foil...
