I wanna learn at least two new languages. And go all over europe, not just visit but spend awhile in each country to experience what its like actually living there. I wanna go to some hispanic countries and brazil too. And then there's so many bands I wanna see live, people to meet, places to go, things to learn :3 I'm 18 but yet I feel old already, I mean my personality doesn't match my age at all. I feel like a child on the inside still yet I can't really act like one cuz "real life' is about to hit. And up until a few months ago I lived life in a very unappretiative manner, took a lot of things and people, esp my family, for granted. I've been ready to change, but how do I make sure I never take life for granted again?
Also I feel like I should have acclomplished something by now. All thru school I do was fuck around, every year the only reason I passed at all is by going to summer school all summer every summer ;/
I felt like that when I was 18 also. You MAY feel old but you are not! You have plenty of time to learn new lessons and enjoy life, I still do as well and I am 22! But it's good to have positive thoughts and at least shoot for that. I am sure you will find yourself in the future taking life for granite, but that's ok, you can't help that when your young, all you can do is try your best to not!
I would have to know you on a more personal basis before I could give you "proper" advice. However, one thing that may help guide you, is a Bob Marley quote. "Open your eyes, and look within. Are you happy with the life you're leading?" -Bob Marley If you are not happy, find out what is causing this. And just take a breather, and figure out how to fix it. If you are "greedy" persay, then go to walmart, (only time I suggest going there), find the christmas tree, get a name off the tree, and get that little kid some presents for christmas. That is just an example. As you start breaking your addictions or habits of misfortune, you will eventually get in the habit of doing stuff you want to do. Life is not easy my friend. But find what you want to do, and just go for it. And constantly remind yourself of what your old life use to be like.
You has accomplished 1 thing, you made it thru school. Others may have just said screw it and quit. At 18 the biggest thing I wanted to accomplish was finding my next big of weed. You've taken the first step, realizing you want to change. I find that putting to paper the things I felt I've done wrong helped me. I kept that list with me and determined not to do those things each day. Next make a list of all the thing you want to do, break each down to what you have to do each. Start small, meeting those smaller goals will encourage in the bigger goals. Don't get discouraged if the people you care for don't take your changes to heart right away if you've been treating them bad for a while. Stick with it, Good Luck
You won't believe me-youngin's never do. Life seems to draaaag along when you're young and you'll never get to 21 or 30 or 50. But when you get old like me,you start to realize all the things you wanted to do and didn't get done and never will---"I'll take up the guitar next year--I'll make it to Europe when I finish-?I'll do (something ) later. So,my friend---go forth and get those dreams done!! You''ll never regret it. Looking at life back down thru the years, which you can't do yet--one can see-----life goes by waaaayyy too fast. Don't let anyone stop you--------Go!!
i got a guitar last night, and i'm going to junior college next year to start language/culture studies. until then i'm working and i like this plan :3 i just wish travelling out of the country was a bit cheaper, because that's next on my to do list
more importantly, how do you get the money and free time to do all this? The author of THE 4 HOUR WORK WEEK says it takes 6 months to "get" 90% of a language, and you may not get 99% of it in 10 years. That's if learning it is your full time job.
So- is it the author's six month time frame or the4 OP's ability to learn that you're expressing doubt over?
