A couple of summers ago I attempted to dispose of an air conditioner at the local landfill. While I was placing it on the ground next to some other ones a town employee informed me that there was a charge for leaving it there. He directed me to a building a short distance away to pay for the service. Before entering the building I noticed a sign that read shoes must be worn in building. I think it goes without say that most people wouldn't attempt to go unshod at of all places a landfill. After all you wouldn't know what's on the ground there. Of course this is a barefoot thread and I'm sure some members of this forum are going to prove me wrong.
Well yeah, last summer I always did the landfill barefoot. Not so much this year because the amount of broken glass seemed to have doubled. More butterfingers moving into town I guess.
Well there wasn't a sign but I find it really weird that I got kicked out of a bookstore. Even more weird, I get kicked out of everywhere except for the grocery store
The other side of thhe coin is the "bare feet only" sign you get on some of the boat tours down in the Caribbean. Now if only that sign could catch on elsewhere!
I've gone barefoot at a landfill too, no problem. I mean, I wouldn't climb around on top of the piles of garbage but I wouldn't do that shod either. Just on the paths there's only small random litter and glass, which doesn't faze me. What's funny is that the way you describe it, the sign was only on the office building -apparently they didn't mind people walking outside in the landfill without shoes, but didn't want the bare feet inside. Wonder if they'd claimed 'safety' as a reason if challenged? :smilielol5:
I don't think it's stepping in the locker room that does it but the putting the shoes back on with all that moisture

Ehh, it's actully everyone wearing shoes, THEN taking them off for the locker room to walk around and trade fungus, then putting their shoes back on, giving the fungus a new home.
I've always been shocked by people CHOOSING to wear "aqua socks" or whatever in a swimming pool. If you can't go barefoot in a pool, what's next???
Pleeezee! Aqua socks in a swimming pool? One of the best thing I love about swimming is being barefoot and no one ever gives you a second look. Personally, I would be caught dead with those silly things on.
