hey all I have been sing vicodin for about 8 months pretty heavy the last 2 or 3 months. I am deciding to quit for financial reasons and my tolerance is just to high. I dont get that great feeling any more. any way I have been taking about 10 norco 7.5/325 a day and wondering what kind of withdraws I can expect and what would be a good regimen to ween down thanks alot, any advice would be appreciated.
You will most likely get a lot of psychological cravings for the hydros. You have been taking them for a while and your brain is used to feeling that way. You will also maybe get physical withdrawals, although I know very little about that. A good regime would be to go down to 8, 7.5s then a week later to 5, then to 3, then none. If you can try and go from 5 to none. All of this is probably going to require a lot of effort and willpower on your behalf. Good luck
the last time i went dry, i took 1-2 15mg roxis a day for like a week, and then came off that....which is way easier than going from like 180 mg a day to nothing....i always took a dose before bed, so i could sleep. the worse part for me is not being able to sleep....OH AND THE SHITS TOO, lol......they always say that as tolerance builds it takes more and more to get "high" BUT it doesnt take that much to snap outta withdrawls......you have to decide which feels better....being high or not feeling like utter shit....i have come to realize that not feeling like utter shit is better, although i have enough to chase the high, and still stay pain manageable, and outta withdraw. My goto's are always alot of music, to keep ur mind sane, and alot of hot baths to keep the body relaxed. In one day, i Listened to every song on my phone (500+) and took atleast 8 baths....GOODLUCK TO YA!!!
Just remember, Opiate withdrawal will NOT kill you, no matter how bad you feel, it will get better. There is a shopping list of OTC stuff that u can buy that will make the transition much easier, but know this, there is no free ride to getting past withdrawals, just plenty of ways to make it a bit easier. Search Opiate withdrawals on Google or Bing, you will find lots of things you can do to make a smoother transition to beign free of opiates. I wish you the best of luck.....
As for me - I physically feel like crap - I can't eat for a week. It sucks big time. The weird thing is I go back and go through the whole process over and over.
I don't know, suboxone is pretty close to a free ride compared to cold turkey WD, although my experience was with Heroin which is much shorter WD than pills.
Hey thanks for your input. I went 24 hours and took only 2 tabs at 8:00 am, then by 4:00 my back and legs were aching pretty bad so I took another 4. Now I am going to try another 24 hours with nothing, and pry take a few tomorrow afternoon, It is very hard for me to have them in my posession and not take them but I am trying. Also was wondering if tramadol would help come off. thanks, Have a good day.
While Suboxone is definately a good way to kick opiates, I assumed the OP didnt have access to such. And the taper method would work just as well.
I seriously have no idea how you can put up with it. Ive been through withdrawals completely twice, I have no plans to ever visit that again....
The worst is leg pains when you're trying to sleep. If someone had told me before that leg pains would be awful I wouldn't have believed them, but they are really really bad and you can't sleep.
Really? Well I guess I could see it being worse than vicodin, but do you think its worse than oxys? One thing for sure... It is most definitely not worse than Methadone.
no doubt.. thats why you take suboxone for like 3-4 days, not 3-4 months. Suboxone is great for detox, not so much as long term treatment. the OP would have no WD symptoms after the 3-4 days considering his habit. You don't need to take suboxone for any longer than 5 days. This is from personal experience.
^Yeah, you are right man. I have heard the same exact thing basically from other people. Although you say that people should only be on subs for days or so, i know a girl who came off of pills and dope about 3 years ago, and then for the last 2 years or so she has been getting subs. How is this possible? OP, good to hear about cutting back down too less tabs. I def feel you with the whole thing about having shit in your possession but trying not to take them.. Also, i would try tapering and if that doesn't work then i would go for the suboxone method.. good luck!
Its possible cause doctors love money, so instead of saying "take these pills for a couple days stay away from opiates and have a nice life" they say "I am going to give you a month subscription for suboxone, come back in a month and pay the 200 dollars your insurance probably won't cover and i'll right you another script." Sad but true. Another example is a local detox will give you somewhere around 50mg of suboxone over a 5 day period and if you don't have insurance your better of cause its FREE!!!(state pays for it) where as if you do have insurance its pretty hard to get in as most providers won't cover the cost unless its life threatening. So people go to the hospital say they are suicidal, then try to get back into detox. Also sad but true. I've always been lucky cause the times i have had to go to detox i had no insurance, i would shoot heroin for like 5 months straight then go to detox for 5 days and come out feeling great, then repeat. I hate opiates!
i know a guy from my old job, was on suboxone for a extended period of time, dont know exactly how long, but was definitely longer than5 days.
... there are probably thousands of people that are on suboxone for long periods of time, that doesn't mean you need to be for it to work. It works just fine as a drug to help detox from opiates, the only reason to take it after that is to stop yourself from getting high, which is stupid in my opinion cause if you still want to get high you will, or because you don't think the doctor your getting it from makes enough money.
i tried detoxing off 210-250 mg of oxycodone a day (30s), and i cant sleep for days, i have the shits, the worst flu like symptoms and worst of all, i cant eat anything!
