Most people have a collection of something, what's yours? How did you locate and acquire the items for your collection. When you have the items what do you do with them, display them or hide them away somewhere.
Rubber ducks and ducky related items. I think it's fairly easy to guess how I got them, they're sold all over the place for like $1 each, and Daniel's mom usually loads me up with them on Christmas. I have them everywhere, there are ducks in every room of my house. The bathroom is ducky themed (ducky shower curtain, ducky soap dispenser, ducky decals on the wall, rubber ducks everywhere), there's a duck on my computer, there's a duck on the kitchen sink...I even have ducks at my parents' house, lol. I also collect peace sign stuff, but mostly just to wear. But I'm fairly picky about that and won't take just any old gawdy stuff, it has to look nice. I also collect Chuck Taylors, but those are also to wear.
i used to collect teen magazines. they're all in my mom's attic now, I plan to bring them out if I ever have a daughter. I used to love going through my mom's old magazines so i thought it would be cool to save mine for my future daughter.
I myself have a big collection of beer related stuff like signs, bottle openers, old bottles, and other odds and ends.
i don't collect. i create. some sorts of endlessly reusable things, like books and magazines with useful information, do seem to collect of their own accord. this is not with an intent to collect, but to actually use them.
collecting is a con game. creating is a hobby. i've been scratchbuilding 1/4" scale narrow gauge and running it around under my bed in the very small space i now live in. making stuff on the computer is a hobby too.
i was hardcore into coins and stuff back when i was a little kid. i kind of picked back up lately. also i stash away nice old forged tools and good relatively large pieces of metal.. i can use them or sell them later
a couple of 1880's morgan dollars are the only old ones i have now. my aunt used to collect pig stuff.. she committed suicide also our friend here twodogs collect coins
Rocks, because I'm poor and their everywhere. Also a small coin collection. Too bad the collection hasn't grown in years. Wish I could travel and add to it.
I have a shitload of coins my dad collected for me at the 'rents' house in the cute little boxes they sell at the mint. And we have a few coins here, but they're mostly Dan's. He found one of those misprinted state quarters (can never remember what state, something to do with a corn leaf) and it's worth $1500 or was a couple of years back when we last checked. It's pretty cool.
Oh, I love to collect even more than retired old people. I collect Plug and Play video games, Vinyl records, coins, Tshirts, electronic equipment of almost any kind, vhs tapes, dvds, speakers, magnets, speaker magnets, and now that I have a garage, I might as well start collecting tools and stuff, too.
I almost forgot, I collect Matchbox and Hotwheel ambulances (and various cars I find to be "cool"). It's a small collection, because I'm picky about my Hotwheels and Matchboxes and they don't release new ambulances too often, it seems. That collection is one of my favorites, I collected Matchbox cars when I was a little kid, too, but I played with them back then, so now it's nice to have them all mint in the box.
