Yes it will be a very sad day. It's too bad that more people aren't familiar with his work. It's probably because in the early sixties he got black listed from commercial TV. Let's hope that that sad day is a long time coming. PAX
I concur... To me he is the grandfather of folk (protest type songs anyway) I think he is the most amazing man who has ever lived
I can think of older (maybe even better) songs but I recently heard Camilo by State Radio an think its damn good.
There are so many powerful ones that really just get my fire goin', I'm gonna say a favorite of mine is Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd. Hmph... society.
for me, the most influentional protest song is blowin' in the wind by bob dylan, also sung by joan baez and also by sam cooke. for it is a powerful and thought provoking protest song and is one of the best that i have heard.

I always enjoyed Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie.... a Vietnam era bit of tongue-in-cheekery that seems to still ring true- particularly its view of the median intelligence of military and police.... and a culture that officially is intolerant of litterbugs being morally unfit to kill.
