no one is really ready for dmt. you just have to experiement on how you react to it. if you dont find it to be your cup of tea, then don't do

    Hello TheTruthIsInside,

I was ready for DMT when I tried it for the first time, but I am an extreme case. I would say you are ready when you are fully an adult - that is living on your own, able to extract DMT on your own, should you do so, dealing with real-world bullshit on a daily basis, rather than the oh-so-important issues that kids and teenagers deal with.

In addition to having a few years and ensuring complete brain physical development, I would also suggest significant psychedelic experience before trying DMT. Heavy doses of mushrooms (7 grams or more); heavy doses of LSD (400 mcgs or more); also experience with Salvia Divinorum breakthroughs would help.

Basically, if you are able to completely let go, to completely surrender, to accept ANYTHING, to "die" in hyperspace and not only accept it with grace but return nothing but love. If you are into control or want to "conquer" drug experiences, forget it. Surrender is the key. And being ready for anything. I was 41 years into really hard-core atheism and got converted in the space of a 5-minute breakthrough. You better believe I was surprised. And surprised doesn't begin to describe the reaction of those who knew me . . . anything.

spicey, are you saying that you were completely changed after breaking through on DMT? as in, noticeably to the people close to you?

and with all due respect, do you feel that you got "hooked" or "obsessed" with DMT after breaking through and having your views changed so drastically?

    Yes, this is the truth.

I was completely changed after breaking through with DMT. It stuck for about 14-18 months before old habits tried to reassert themselves. But, I still have the knowledge and memory of that big, converting breakthrough even though it becomes more distant. So, though not as much as I might like or hope, I would say, yes DMT has changed me, permanently.

Yes, I became completely obsessed with DMT for about 15 months. But, I am a borderline OCD person. I have had obsessions for my entire life since I was a child.

Yes, many of my views changed, thus far, permanently. The horrible existential despair weight was lifted. I came to understand religion and art better due to my experience(s). I came to love people more and feel less misanthropic. I started realizing I couldn't save the world and shouldn't try but that I could and should make individual interventions to try to help alleviate suffering. I began letting go of my material possessions. What a relief to sell, gift and throw out all that crap hoarded for decades. It never helped with the existential angst/pain anyway.

In terms of being "hooked" No fucking way. Believe me, I really, really tried. I wanted to be a DMT addict. I knew at least one daily user (to the point of breakthrough) and I wanted to be like that. DMT did not permit me. When I pushed it (taunted the Happy Fun Ball) I broke my head and had to take a multi-month break. I still feel damaged, in that I cannot take big, fast, breakthrough doses all that often anymore.

DMT is not a party drug and not a social drug. It is a teacher but like a teacher that uses a hard ruler or a switch. I can no longer call myself a heavy DMT user. Even if I get into a binge for a day or a week or so, when I put down the vaporizing pipe, I find it very, very difficult to pick up again. DMT seems to auto-trigger the fear and the Wow response in my head.

    thanks for the response.

i assume you "broke your head" psychologically, not physically?

wondering if a sitter is as necessary as it was on my first salvia breakthrough. i realize that i should take my hits quickly, set down the pipe, and lay back.

Correct. No physical or lasting psychological damage. Just got some DMT issues, that's all.

IMHO, no. Essential for salvia, but not for DMT. Helpful if you are going to fully breakthrough with a big dose in a minute or less just in case you drop the pipe or lighter - to ensure no one gets burned and to avoid pipe breakage. You will most likely be 100% immobilized in a very powerful body load/drug trance. Regardless of what you believe is happening, your hearbeat will be elevated but within normal ranges as will your bp. Your breathing will be normal and even. A sitter usually reports that the journeyer looks like they were deeply and comfortably asleep during the main part of the trip.

dmt trips dont really need a sitter. as said, you pretty much just become immobilized and gointo a headspace.

salvia however, can convince you that you "need" to go into another room, or use the sink, etc, even though you can barely keep balanced or your hands steady

^ use the sink? I've never felt like I had to use the sink on salvia nor the concept of what a sink is the majority of my trips :p

I agree (& LOL) with GB! I was too busy trying to decide between a direct interaction wtih dead spirits on one side or stepping through smokey, rectangular inter-dimensional doors on the other, when I took my main salvia sleepwalk. Sink? What's a sink?

I NEVER try to act out (walk around, etc.) my DMT visions.

For me personally, the body (image) is part of it. During my big DMT breakthroughs I don't have much of a body, am pretty much a disembodied soul. But during my heaviest salvia breakthroughs I take a perfect simulacrum of my body with me into 3D immersive sage-space. If I could somehow just leave this body image behind I might (might not) be able to lessen the urge to walk around.

You are ready when you are ready to die. Not a moment before that time. For most people, that means never.
