Ive been making tie dye clothing for a long time now. any other people out there love making their own tie dye stuff? Any cool techniques you learned along the way? whats your favorite tie dye style? love 1 another
My boyfriend and I make tie dye all the time. we usually make up our own things just kinda put the rubber band where you feel lol or we have looked up ways to make cool designs. i like thinking of my own stuff though. it makes it more exciting and gets you wondering what exactly its going to look like when its done. My favorite tie dye style though is probably the circles that start small in the middle then get bigger going out.. i dont know the exact name for it but hopefully you get it lol.
The more twists, folds, rubber bands, and the tighter you roll/fold it up, the better it turns out in my experience. I haven't done too much tie dying, but I'd love to do more.
Love it! My husband and I make it to sell at festivals. I have an ArtFire shop for the in between times. My husband loves this design he calls the peacock and another done in a flag fold. I just love it when the colors don't mud. (some colors like their neighbors a bit too much) http://www.************/TieDyeBySara2 http://TieDyeBySara.artfire.com
ive been getting more intricate with my tie dying, experimenting with different types of dye. how did you do the design on this one http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=1643686 did you seperate it into two pieces and do 2 spiral designs? your work is absolutely beautiful by the way, and your prices are really fair too which is refreshing to see. alot of handmade stuff on the internet are ridiculously expensive. ill def be buying things off you in the future! :]
I recently submitted an article to Ezine on this subject. http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Tie-Dye&id=5287312 I've been dying for a little over three years and it's very addicting! A great activity for the whole family or for birthday parties. With all the cuts in school arts programs I think it's important to let kids (big and small) to get creative.
Yeah Mama, we know. (Well, at least I do.) We just seem to have made an offshoot here. BTW, MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!
The dress was done by my husband, who had this way out idea of how to fold and swirl. I'll try and get an explanation of it sometime. It was an experiment. :sunny:I would love to sell you something. :gossip: AND EVERYONE, if you don't see it, just email me and ask. I may not have gotten to edit and post the photos yet. They need to be "just so" before I post them and it is time consuming for what at last count was over 400 pieces of just clothing, not counting accessories like neck and head scarves or pillow cases and little baby blankets. *~*I just sold a 5 shirt order of T's that hadn't been edited or posted, because she asked about what I had in a certain size and I emailed the unedited photos. Feel free to email for questions, comments, price quotes and special orders. AND for US orders, you can order from me until midnight on the 20th and still get it in time for Christmas. TieDyeBySara@yahoo.com http://www.************/TieDyeBySara2 http://TieDyeBySara.artfire.com
I'm going to be dying some shirts soon for the summer. Can anyone tell me what the best dye to use is? I've used Rit every time in the past and wasn't completely happy with the results. It tends to fade quickly as well.
Procion, with is also the Jaquard Tie Dye Kit in stores. best source: Ruppert, Gibbon and Spider/Jacquard (1-800 2 BUY DYE) adequate for just a starter kit is dharmatrading.com Dharma's better black really IS better, but the consistency lot to lot with other colors is variable.
i'm a tie-dye fanatic and own quite a collection. the ones i own i scored at discount stores and flea-markets. but i'd sure love to learn how to make them myself. i've been told craft shops are a good way to go; also craft sections in wal-mart-type stores. anybody have any other ideas? paisley skye.
Stay away from wal-mart-type stores if you want something that will last. I'm a Dharma nut myself, so here is their website. http://www.dharmatrading.com/ You can ask for a free mail order catalog too. The easiest way to do that is by phone. *Toll-free from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada 8am to 5pm PST Phone: 800-542-5227*
I love tie and dye, I know the process of making it but cant do it by myself, Its a lot to do to get the result.I like this piece designed by an Indian Designer
