UPDATE: Apparently Wikileaks server has been hacked. Page comes up saying: El Pais (Spain) has released it en Espanol. http://www.elpais.com/documentossecretos/
I don't see why they want to hide that stuff, iran's evil (though we shouldn't strike first) the UN is evil and rogue, pakistan is out of control and should NOT have nukes, we all know that the russian government is basically the new russian mob, we know the US-UK operations in the middle east are easy to critisize, and i could give two fucks what the royal family does.
Well if they're going to plan an air strike on Iran, I'm guessing they wouldn't want Iran to know about it in advance.
Check this out! Just one tiny part of a directive, apparently ordered by Condolezza Rice against Paraguay. She's demanding private, personal info on Paraguay's leaders. This is certainly a violation of Paraguay's sovereignty and privacy rights of individuals. What gives the US the right to know this info? Is Paraguay our enemy now? Of course our gov't has exactly this info on everyone of us already. Imagine that all that info requested above, is only the START. Once they have all that personal info, the plan would be to monitor it all, on an ongoing basis in order to spy upon and influence a sovereign state. The info can also be used to bring Paraguay down should the need arise. They are locating critical communication infrastructure to be targeted in such an event. Doesn't it seem to anyone else that the US is far too interested and covertly involved in too many countries in the world? Where do we draw the line anymore? Interestingly, this is part of a huge directive to spy on Paraguay to see how far Al-Qaida or other militants have infiltrated there. Or perhaps just an excuse to get our spy apparatus well established there, and perhaps our military too so that they can protect the American Elite for their exodus to Paraguay...
The cable on blackmailing Slovenia into taking a Guantanamo prisoner or not getting a meeting with Obama was awesome. Also the whole world is freaked out by Iran's nuclear program and they have missiles capable of hitting Berlin. I think its a secret service operation otherwise Assange would be dead or otherwise silenced a long time ago or corporate mass media would never mention it- that stinks. Its propaganda I think. Against Iran for example. http://blogs.alternet.org/penucquem/2010/10/11/julian-assange-cia-agent-provocateur/ http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/296308 http://www.infowars.com/wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-is-annoyed-by-911-truth/
To be honest, I'm a lot more disturbed by the existence of Wikileaks than any of the stuff that they're 'exposing'. Seriously, they're intent on bringing down the US government... so that CHINA can rule the world? I guarantee that the Chinese would NOT be putting up with this crap... they'd have the site shut down, the people behind it shot, and start working on a virus to destroy the computers of anyone who even tried to access the site. Seriously, what GOOD is any of this information doing anyone? Are any of YOU, in your infinite wisdom, actually going to DO ANYTHING with any of this??? Or are you just going to sit back and say 'wow, those fuckers sure are fuckers' like you did yesterday, and the day before and the day before that, ad infinitum? Most of it isn't even news or newsworthy... and meanwhile it has damaged US diplomacy for a few years at least, weakening the US, who, by the way, is directly responsible for all of the freedoms that you DO have, like it or not. I'm not big on the US or what it does, but I do recognize that it is necessary and that I'm pretty sure that until you completely eliminate greed and ego from the human animal (in about 6 million years, maybe?), it honestly won't get any better than what we have now. Government is government... it's practically the same everywhere you go. And do you think that these leaks are going to mean more freedom for anyone? Do you think that there are suddenly going to be new laws popping up that say 'from now on, we're just going to be more upfront and honest about stuff'?? No, if anything, it's going to go in the opposite direction. And if you hate the government that much, why not just drop out and live in the jungle or in Alaska or something? Seriously, this whole 'fuck the man' thing has gone too far... the US IS weak... it's weak because it allows this kind of thing to go on while other nations would have done whatever they could to make sure it didn't.
It's not about being pro-China or pro-US or anything else like that. Organizations like Wikileaks are one of the few helping to get rid of this world-power vs. world-power mentality that has plagued most of history and will eventually - indeed, must - end in disaster. There are no 'good guys' among nation states, their nature is to lust for power and are all prone to corruption. What else will keep them in check if not this? Hopefully these leaks can convince some people like you of that notion, even if it doesn't convince yourself.
Most people are already aware of all of the fucked up things that governments do... I mean, we all know that Iraq happened, and yet-- there haven't been any revolutions, people haven't changed the way they're living, etc. etc. Somehow people are convinced that knowledge is more valuable than action... and the concept of 'spreading the word' has actually completely replaced 'taking action'. But I think that the real reason that so many people don't end up taking action is because as angry and frustrated as they think they are, deep down inside, they're actually really really really comfortable. And the politicians know this, and big oil knows this... and everyone knows that they can't let their idealism fool them into believing that organization is no longer important. So now the leak is out and all the countries of the world know it has leaked and nations around the world are going to stop sharing information with the US... and undercover agents are going to be exposed and probably killed and nobody is going to do anything except talk about it on the Internet and think it's great that the most evil force in the universe is finally losing its grip on the world. Espionage is a fact of life... and until everyone in the world moves to Sesame Street, the kind of stuff released by Wikileaks is going to be completely necessary.
Al Jazeera 29 Nov 2010 The whistleblowing website WikiLeaks has released a massive trove of leaked US diplomatic cables detailing candid opinions of various world leaders, repeated calls for a US attack on Iran, and requests for US diplomats to spy on officials of other countries. WikiLeaks started publishing the 251,287 cables - 15,652 of which are classified "secret" - from 274 US missions around the world on Sunday, even after its website apparently came under a denial of service attack before the release. The cables, communications between diplomatic missions abroad and the US state department in Washington, were mostly sent between 2007 and last February and could embarrass both the US administration and foreign governments. Some of the diplomatic notes detailed how Arab leaders in the Gulf have been urging an attack on "evil" Iran. http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2010/11/20101128184116255899.html ------ Because I do not want President Obama to be hurt by this, I am ambivalent. Nevertheless, I am glad that Arab leaders have been calling for an attack on Iran. This should restrain Iranian leaders, and impede the Iranian drive to build nuclear weapons. In general, I am pleased with news of disunity within the Islamic world.
You're saying wikileaks is wrong for endangering espionage agents, or something? You mean like a certain american politician did out of political spite a short while ago? The difference is they're doing it for information that needs to be free.
Uhhhh who is wikileaks getting killed aside from the people the government said so to stop from getting them to release the documents? People in a democratic country have a right to know the foreign policy makings of its government. Secrecy is the antithesis of democratic government especially when it involves something that people should know about, for example Germans can now be fully aware of the fact the US is near certain Iran has missile capability obtained from North Korea that puts Berlin in range. *edit* Who the hell cares if one leader wanted another country bombed. Good, so now for example Iran can know that Israel is not the only nation in the mid-east that wants to bomb them. If Reagan joking on live TV during the cold war that we've outlawed the Soviet Union and we commence bombing in 5 minutes didn't star a war a bunch of leaders talking smack to each other isn't going to either. Nor do I think our analysis of other countries foreign policies is going to alter their policies in any way.
