    When tokin cannabis how long should you hold in that sweet smoke for?
    Everyone seems to have their own personal opinion on this but i was wondering if anyones done a study or something? :p

    Sorry if this questions been asked a hundred times before.

    You can hold it in for as long or as little as you want. It doesn't really matter. When you're holding your breath, all you're doing is cutting off the oxygen supply to your brain. It may feel like it's better to hold it in, but in reality, it has nothing to do with weed, but with the way our bodies operate naturally. I hold it in long enough to milk the bong, then I exhale.

    I dunno, 6-7 seconds max, just because it really accentuates that exhale when you finally stop delaying it.

    Then you should know that it doesn't really matter how long you hold it in. I find that I get better results from it if I exhale through my nose slowly.

    I can chime in with about 4 seconds. That's apparently how long it takes to absorb 90% of the THC (although to be fair i'm remebering old studies from memory). Any more and your just needlessly killing braincells by starving your brain of oxygen.

    i always hold it in as lon as i can its how i was taught so i enjoy it lol

    You know...the body has this special thing it does when you're not getting enough air...you know, before you lose braincells. What was that again? Oh yeah, you pass out. :rolleyes: You're not going to get brain damage from holding your breath, that's the equivalent of saying swimming underwater causes brain damage.

    Thing is your not holding "breath" you're holding smoke, aka you're not absorbing a lot of oxygen and if you hold the hit for 15-20 seconds your brain will probably get oxygen starved. I'm not a scientist, I'm just making connections here.

    Well, hell, there's worse things you can do, I don't think that holding pot smoke in too long is really very high on the list of things that shorten lifespan.

    Very true, but everytime I hold in a hit for a while and start to get that headrush feeling I can't help but associate that with brain cells. That's why the original tests on marijuana said it kills braincells, because they force fed the test subjects marijuana smoke constantly for long periods of time.
