yeah any random joe could score high on that test.

You said you cant get to a shrink...

..you dont want to see a shrink. Their main priority is to properly prescribe meds to people.

Soo unless you feel like going through a plethora of differnt medications to treat a problem you THINK you have, see one. Otherwise, work towards it gradually and talk to a psychologist who will give you one-on-one attention and feedback unlike the psychiatrist. They cant prescribe meds, they can reccommend, but they wont put you on anything. You can speak about anything with psychologists, and they are great to open up to.
    A good place to start...

Personally, i dont trust shrinks. I believe i may have bipolar disorder but i dont know thatgetting put on exspensive medication (thats all they wat to do to help you) is the right way. i am looking over my options. Maybe you should try getting help from a homiopath..................................

ok...a schizotypal disorder is quite different from bipolar disorder, dude. And I very much doubt you have either in a strong enough manifestation to be able to label your problem as a disorder. I was gonna give you the symptoms of bipolar disorder and general schizophrenia, but I don't wanna put ideas into anyones head, some people get wierd after reading this stuff and try to pretend like they have it...So, the next best thing- In order to actually be diagnosed with a disorder you have to display AT LEAST one of the three issues listed:

    1. Personal stress. You have to be extremely distressed personally about it. This is mainly for things like a depressive disorder, where you may not be maladaptive or observedly different, but may feel extremely distressed about your state of mind. (By the way you worded your beginning comment, this is just conjecture, but you don't sound stressed about it at all. You make it sound like needing to find a decent dentist or somethin)

    2. Maladaptive behaviour. This is an important one for the manic stages of bipolar disorder, because bar the shame and crapness most people feel after a manic stage, its only considered manic if you're observably different, as a generalisation. Maladaptive behaviour is behaviour you undertake which obstructs your ability to live your day to day life- inability to do certain things because you just won't let yourself (eg phobias), or because your obsession gets in the way of that, and wins (eg drug/alcohol use, obsessive compulsive disorder).

    3. Deviance. Basically, If you act in a way which is different from social norms...if you make other people anxious/scared etc, or theyre just uncomfortable to be around you. For example if I were feeling ok, functioning ok, but verbally abused, and embarrassed everyone I met I would be socially deviant.

If you're extremely deviant, distressed, or maladaptive, then you MAY have a disorder.
