Did you ever discuss the subject of masturbation with your child? If so, what did you say and how old was he/she at the time? I've never really said anything about it-didn't figure I needed to. If I ever mentioned it, which was briefly, I simply said it was normal and healthy (can't remember the context of the discussion, though-long time ago). They figured it all out on their own, anyway!

Finally, if you have ever walked in on your child masturbating... Almost, I was about to walk in, but they didn't see me-didn't realize I was there.

How old was he/she at the time? Son was about 16, daughter was about 14 (separate incidents, of course).

What was the context: Where was he/she? What technique was he/she using? What he or she clothed at all? Son was lying in his bed, completely naked, pulling the foreskin of his penis back and forth over the head until he ejaculated on his stomach.


Daughter was also lying in her bed, naked from the waist down, rubbing her clitoral area back and forth with two fingers, until she raised her hips off the bed and obviously had an orgasm.


Both times, my son and daughter didn't realize I was home (and I didn't realize they were home) so their door was open, since they didn't expect anyone to see them. I walked into the rooms because I wanted to bring clean clothes in and put them in their drawers.

How did you react? I was a little shocked, since it wasn't something I expected, but also a little turned on by the sights as well. I don't have a problem with mom's buying their daughters vibrators or anything like that if they are already masturbating by penetration. it's better to use something that is clean than letting them masturbate with something they find around the house like a hairbrush handle or something else that isn't real clean. i've heard about girls finding their mom's vibrator and using that so yes it would be better for mom to buy one for their daughter instead sharing one for sure, like a lot of dads share porn with their sons (i think that's illegal tho) or at least know their sons borrow it mom buying a vibe or small dildo for their daughter is no big deal, i'd only worry if it was too big cuz the girl might hurt herself or whatever

Anyway, I do believe my parents knew I was getting at that age, as I would a get load of viruses on the computer (from porn, opps!) Even then my parents didnt explain anything to me, my mother asked, whether I watched "naked people" in her words with an embrassing smile, which made me embrassed. At times, I believe my mother knew (never saw) but got an idea, but was in denial and never explained it to me.

My parents never explained, sex safe, sex at all, masturbation, boys - nothing. I think its good to talk to your kids when you think their getting at the safe, so they wouldnt be ashmed, embrassed, grossed out, uneducationed on such things.

Masturbation was always (and to some degree still is) a private matter. My parents never discussed it, i've never discussed it with my kids.
Mastubation is a natural course and every kid will learn and explore their own sexually in their own way.
