I only saw The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, That was pretty good. I love six-shooters though, I think I should see some more cowboy movies. Any suggestions?

    Two films I wholeheartedly recommend:

UNFORGIVEN, which was released in 1992 to world acclaim. It won four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Directer (Clint Eastwood). Gene Hackman also nabbed Best Supporting Actor. It is a Western where the filmmakers are not affraid to show the darkside of a former gunslinger.

Another is ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, which is my favorite western. Everything I've ever wanted in a western is in this film. From the suspensful opening to the surprising end, I was glued to the screen. A little on the long side (165 minutes) but it went by so fast I can't complain.

    Try these two.

    Peace

"Unforgiven" is an execellent film. So is "Silverado" with Kevin Kline. Hard to say which is better. Another listed on the finalist list is "Stagecoach" (1939) with John Wayne and directed by John Ford. Another Ford / Wayne collaboration is "The Searchers" (1956). Also "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (1962).

I practically forgot! High Noon is one of the most gripping films I've ever seen (the real-time timrline really helped). Gary Cooper is excellent.
