Does anyone ever do this? I see it as our brains trying to fight against symbolic thought

I find that the longer I stare at words, the more likely I am to question their spelling.

I just erase it and respell it the way it was originally. It works for me, lol.

There are some words that I think I will always have to do a double take on. Even though I know probably did spell it correctly, I still have to check it.

Yes! Though it's happened perchance. I don't think I've ever consciously tried to get that effect.

I think anything looks weird (and all your preconceptions go to shit) after you stare at them long enough.

I have a habit of peering at women long enough that they start looking ugly.

    Then... I'm outtie. :2thumbsup:

I find it more when you say words repeatedly until they sound sound bizarre.

Yeah, I do that sometimes, the spelling looks weird to me if I keep looking at them.

Sometimes words that I have already used for a long time, and written down loads suddenly for no apparent reason look wrong. Like the spelling is not right, and you try rewriting it several times only to then check the dictionary, even though it turns out that it was in fact spelled correctly it still look wrong.

This has never happened to me with the word "jobbie".

yeah.. language has pretty much completely stopped making sense to me. If I don´t write quickly without thinking too hard, I get really confused. The other day, I sat for at least a full minute wondering if I had spelled ´help´ right.

this probably has something to do with the fact that I´m living in south america and have hardly spoken any english the last 4 months...
