Toys R Us, stoners I need your info!!! (drug testing ?)

so I have an interview for a part time, temporary/seasonal gig at toys r us tomorrow.

on the phone, the man I was talking to told me things about the job and asked if it was ok, including duties, interview times...etc. he then told me i may be subjected to a background test and asked if i would comply if nessecary. I said yes. then he asked if i would comply to a possible drug screen, again i said yes.

have any of you ever worked for toys r us, or know anyone who has? what do you know about their drug poilicies?!?!

i knew one girl who smoked daily and worked there but i dont know if she got tested before getting hired (i dont communicate with her anymore so i cant ask her .) my guess is that since im temporary AND part time they won't want to waste their money on me, especially if i make a good impression....am i stupid to believe this?


let me know what you guys know/think (and i say think cautiously ), cuz i may have to rearrrange my day tomorrow if i find out some bad news from this thread....

a friend of mine worked there for a year or so. i just gave him a call and he said they never drug tested him, or any of his co-workers that he knew of.

i mean id imagine it could vary by store, but as long as you dont show up in your bob marley gear with red squinty eyes i would say you are in the clear

to put it in perspective, i work at a grocery/drug store. there is a PHARMACY where i work, and i was never drug tested.. you would think if theres ONE place you do not want drug addicts working its in a grocery store that has a pharmacy in the back... drug testing employees is too expensive.. these corporations are all about getting filthy rich, so id say its pretty unlikely they are gonna pay for every employee to have a proper labratory drug test... they ask you if youd be willing to take a drug test for like every job.. that way when you come into work looking obviously stoned/on drugs and they want to drug test you, their ass is covered.

Yes congrats on the job... I don't think I would worry about the drug test too much, I think they might just say that to scare off some people. I had a friend who did season work for them as well and he is a serious pothead.

I'm pretty sure that someone on this forum mentioned they recently were hired there as well.

the job isn't mine, but i hope it is, being a cashier won't be too shabby for a few months, especially if it helps pays the bills/get me out of my parents house

your guess may be correct. i've had seasonal jobs that said they might test, but never did. take precautions just in case.

 

my buddy works at babys r us which is the same company and he didnt get drug tested. i work at a store similar to toys r us and they told me they only test 25% of the workers they hire so you should be good

 

If there is some sort of an accident at the job though, you best bet they will most definitely drug test you!

 

yes, if you hurt yourself or you fall off a ladder or something like that theyll drug test you.

 

yeah i don't think most of these places drug test seasonal employees as they really load up and they aren't gonna waste 500+ dollars to make sure each of them are clean before they work there for 3-4 months

 

some guy that i just got hired with for seasonal got drug tested. idk why he did and not me. he was in the army so idk if that or maybe his background had to do with him being tested.

 

my boy just got hired at toys r us and theres no way he had to take a drug test

 

I don't know about Toys r us but I work at a nationwide "mass retailer" and also a specialty retailer. I had to test for both and they are both part time, one is seasonal, so don't assume that's reason enough that they won't spend the $$ on the test. Perhaps it's due to the nature of my jobs (using heavy lifting equipment, sharp & dangerous eqipment, and being responsible for the care of living creatures) and maybe Toys r us isn't that serious about it but usually if they mention it on or before the interview, they will most likely go through with it. Just get clean for the test, then you can resume smoking because randoms are unlikely in a seasonal PT retail job. You'll pretty much only get tested again if you get hurt on the job. Good luck!

 

If they just make you do a urine test, you can buy real urine online. They cant watch you pee into a cup, so just put the bag under hot water for a bit, then pour it in. There are sites online for this, I knew a girl who would work for a store that tested her every so often, she smoked a lot and just bought those bags.
