Surprised someone hasn't already started this topic up. OK, I'll do it.

Can the zombie storyline keep viewers coming back week after week? It worked for the vampire storyline in "True Blood". There are only six episodes total in the first season. But, they're running a contest for viewers to win a "stagger on" role in an upcoming episode next season. That says AMC has confidence that the series will have legs....and arms, sawed off hands, chopped off heads, etc.

It's got real nice production values; it's well-made. I guess zombie sets must be fairly easy to set up - block off a city streets, park some cars in weird places with the doors hanging open, have a few extras lay around the set, and there you go.

The central character is the small town sheriff. The central story in the series looks to be about how this sheriff comes to be the leader of the survivors. The romantic story is a love triangle among the sheriff, his cheating wife, and the deputy/best friend. Add a different sub-plot/guest star each week, and there's enough material to power any series for awhile.
The challenge will be to tie in good sub-plots, so the series doesn't end up like most - repetitive and formulaic. We'll see if their writers are up to it.

This is the best show I've seen since Lost ended. On halloween my friends all tripped and it blew our minds. It's pretty inventive and brings up some great points, any zombie fan will love it.

I'm wondering how the series' writers will address this: what happens when the zombies run out of live people to munch on? Where will their zombie bodies get the nutrition they need to stagger around? If the few living people left just hunker down somewhere for a few weeks, won't the zombies just starve, and emaciate away into nothing?

Oh well, probably just spoil the fun to get all logical about it...

I've just finished watching the first season, i can't wait to see what happens next! Have they already shown season 2 in the US?

Theres no way to know, so the people who are still alive aren't just gonna sit there and study the zombies' behavior lol. Besides the zombies can eat any animals, so as long as there are animals on earth they'll still "survive".
I havent read the graphic novel so i don't know what will happen next, but it would be pretty cool if there were zombie animals too (kinda like the cat in Stephen King's Pet Semetary).
